Job Description

India is a key growth country for the Lubricants line of business and the LSC (Lubricants Supply Chain) Business Development (BD) Advisor, India role is a dynamic and highly visible commercial role that will play a crucial part in defining the Lubricants supply chain of the future in India.

More specifically, the BD Advisor will manage large cross-functional, cross-regional project teams and diverse groups of stakeholders to define the asset/supply chain strategies for LSC in the region and lead strategic projects deriving from those (such projects could include network design, country/cluster master planning, asset divestments and closures; strategic 3rd party supply and JV negotiations, etc.).

He/she will serve as a thought leader in LSC and will help drive next level business performance via challenging the status quo to find new and creative solutions, leveraging external insights and competitive intelligence to improve project robustness, actively identifying and sharing best practices to improve business performance, etc.


Project Accountabilities:

  • Manage cross-discipline project teams including resourcing of project members and management of the team

  • Lead projects in line with the Opportunity Realisation Standards and Lubricants Project Management System

  • Analyse and incorporate business requirements, customer needs, industry trends, competitive landscape and group strategy into projects

  • Evaluate opportunities with respect to value, profitability, time frame and risk/alternatives

  • Review all relevant HSSE, technical, commercial, legal, fiscal, political and organisational aspects of projects

  • Prepare and present internal mandates (e.g. investment proposals)

  • Develop and manage detailed implementation plans and champion HSSE (health, safety, security, and environment) leadership in project execution

  • Run Decision Review Boards and liaise with multiple internal and external contacts in the maturation of opportunities across business/country/regional boundaries

  • Prepare and ensure effective hand-over to operations

Leadership Accountabilities:

  • Effectively manage a wide range of stakeholder relationships (including senior stakeholders in multiple functions and locations) to ensure delivery of successful project outcomes

  • Providing ongoing coaching, challenge and support to peers

  • Championing one-team spirit and promoting/adopting best practices across regions

Other Accountabilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with Regional Lubricants Supply Chain Leaders, Global Experts, Sales and Marketing and Product Managers to identify improvement opportunities

  • Build and maintain knowledge of competitor’s supply chain set-up

  • Be an active member of the global Performance and Development group, sharing best practices, providing support and specialist expertise in peer reviews
