Verizon Consulting Systems Engineer in Temple Terrace, Florida

What you’ll be doing...

You will be a part of the Global Network & Technology organization focusing on the strategic technology evolution across our organization specifically with onboarding and orchestration of virtualized network functions. As part of this team you will work on the overall deployment, designing and feature roadmap for our orchestration solution. You’ll have a positive impact on our organization, and change the way that our customers live, work, and play.

  • Be a member of the Technical Staff and will work with senior leads and program managers to help in building solutions to enable the redesign of day-to-day wireline & wireless network operations functions required to support the SDN/NFV adoption, while incorporating newly defined DevOps functions, an end to end service assurance framework and automation principles to work towards a zero touch operating environment. You will also actively participate in meetings, program updates, and presentations to senior leaders (Director Level).

  • Work with world-class engineers involved in virtualizing network functions to develop automation with VNF and manage the end to end lifecycle of VNFs on OpenStack based Verizon Cloud Platform (VCP).

  • Work with senior technical leads in the team and implement the business needs of automated onboarding & orchestration to continuously enhance Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery tool chain with a goal of creating a stable repeatable platform that can be integrated with customer facing portals, Orchestrators, VNF Managers, and VNF vendor platforms.

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams and work on the operational aspect of the various vendor provided Virtual NW Function Orchestration solutions.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience with Linux/Unix scripting.

  • Knowledge of cloud-native application architectures.

  • Experience with deployment or use of configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, or Ansible, Jenkins.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.

  • Working knowledge of various Cloud platforms.

  • Working experience with one or more of the following tools & technologies or equivalent: Java/Spring boot, JavaScript, React.js, Unix, Python, Kubernetes, Artifactory, Docker, Jenkins, SonarQube, Fortify, Junit, Git, Micro services, SOAP/REST, MongoDB, PostgreSQL.

  • Demonstrated excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Hands-on development experience in a majority of the following areas:

  • OpenStack CLI commands and administration.

  • API development based on JSON, XML.

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communications skills with the proven ability to work in a team environment.

  • Developer or Architect Certification with any of the cloud platforms.
