Verizon Senior Manager - Security Operations in Temple Terrace, Florida

What you’ll be doing...

The Verizon Corporate Information Security (CIS) organization ensures the confidentiality, integrity and availability of technology assets and information across all Verizon networks, systems and applications. To achieve these goals, CIS integrates cybersecurity governance, policies, technologies and operations across Verizon. The Product Security team within CIS works to embed security seamlessly into the development lifecycle of technology systems and services.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Manager to lead Security Operations within Product Security. In this role, you will be responsible for the following primary activities:

  • Lead and grow a 24X7 Security Operations team, to own Security Configuration Management, Vulnerability Management, Security Monitoring, Incident Detection, Forensics & Response and Threat Intelligence.

  • Develop and maintain security systems, SOPs, policies, playbooks, process improvements and automation for secure patch management, vulnerability management, incident monitoring and response.

  • Oversee a vulnerability management program to identify, analyze and report vulnerabilities, guide prioritization and remediation efforts.

  • Continuously evaluate and provide recommendations for improving Security Operations coverage, processes, automation, and technology.

  • Collaborate with the Operations team to harden security configuration and ensure up-to-date patch management.

  • Perform post-mortem analysis on security incidents and violations and formulate preventative measures.

  • Develop, track and evolve KPIs & metrics to drive desired behavior and improve security outcomes

  • Maintain a team culture of collaboration, openness and approachability while being firm on security policies, and facilitating progress with product teams

What we’re looking for...

ou’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience in Information Security.

  • Experience building a SOC environment and managing Security Operations.

  • Experience in a senior leadership role, managing teams, coaching employees, leading managers and running threat intelligence function.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Security etc.

  • Security certifications: CRISC, GSEC, CISA, CISM or CISSP, or willingness to obtain within 9 months of start date.

  • IT operations management experience.

  • Experience in Incident Management

  • A track record of working with Agile and DevSecOps practices.

  • Proficient with common attack vectors and mitigation strategies for technology software and systems.

  • Domain knowledge of common information security management frameworks and regulatory requirements and applicable standards such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR, PCI, Sarbanes-Oxley, etc.

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, make meaningful decisions and demonstrate concrete progress even with incomplete information.

  • Knowledge of current and emerging security technologies, threats and techniques for exploiting security vulnerabilities.

  • Knowledge of AWS, Azure, GCP and OCI native security tools.

  • Knowledge of security best practices, principles, and common security frameworks, such as NIST, ISO, Common Criteria, TCSEC, OWASP, etc.

  • Ability to secure container-centric deployments using Docker & Kubernetes.

  • Experience with Data security and Governance.

  • Experience implementing quantitative risk methodologies.

  • Strong strategy, process, and policy development skills.

  • Strong management, critical thinking and analytical skills, along with demonstrated experience building executive relationships.

  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
