Schedule: Must be available to work 12-hour day and nights shifts including some weekend coverage.

    • Position summary: * RN House Supervisor p rovides technical direction and administrative supervision for delivery of nursing and patient care services on assigned shift hospital-wide. Identifies and works with situations and problems associated with delivery of patient services, personnel management, and policy and procedure enforcement. Performs the central authority role in absence of Management or Administrative Team.

    Position responsibilities: o Provides technical direction and administrative supervision for delivery of nursing and patient care services on assigned shift hospital-wide.

    o Identifies and works with situations and problems associated with delivery of patient services, personnel management, and policy and procedure enforcement.

    o Performs the central authority role in absence of Management or Administrative Team.

    o Assess staffing and utilization of staff based on census, patient ratio and acuity. Directs modifications in delivery of care and unit assignments of available staff.

    o Works cooperatively with Managers, Bed Management, Directors, and Administration in reviewing staffing

    o Identifies problems and needs in areas of personnel management, physician-nurse relations, inter/intra- departmental relations and implements plan for appropriate solutions keeping Manager or Director informed of any issues/concerns

    o Maximizes use of resource and expertise of individual employees, physicians and other resources

    o Directs adherence to nursing/hospital policies and procedures. Interprets and determines conformance to established policies and procedures.

    o Promotes in their implementation, revision and evaluation

    o Communicates disciplinary problems to appropriate Managers in a timely manner. In absence of Manager, contacts Director or Administration

    o Collects and forwards the correct house census to the Accounting Department, Corporate Office

    o Provides leadership during fire alarms, disaster drills, hospital codes. etc

    o Remains current in Education as required and maintains a level of clinical competency to function as resource person to individual units

    o Promotes and actively participates in Hospital staff development activities

    o Provides central authority and is the ultimate decision-maker for off-shift and weekend coverage

    o Maintains open and regular communication with Director of Medical/Surgical.

    o Performs efficiently with Meditech/Facility Scheduler/Outlook and HPF. Maintains ongoing training and proficiency with these programs.

    o Other duties as assigned, such as HIM, Materials Management, and Central Sterile Supply. Assembles OR Team or Cath Team when needed.

    o Understands and satisfies the needs of the patient population appropriate to the age of the patient served (adults, geriatric, adolescent, pediatric, and parents of neonates)

    o Meet his/her leadership obligations under the Ethics and Compliance Program

    o Completes Code of Conduct training course annually

    o Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to HCA’s Code of Conduct

    o Demonstrates conduct that is reflective of THRH’s commitment to HCA’s Code of Conduct

    o Understands and satisfies the needs of the patient population appropriate to the age of the patient served (adults, geriatric, adolescent, pediatric, and parents of neonates)

    Essential educational/licensure, skills and experience:

  • Graduate of an approved and accredited School of Nursing

  • Must hold a current R.N. license to practice in the State of Indiana

  • Must hold and maintain current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications throughout employment with Terre Haute Regional Hospital

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of management principles

  • Technically competent in delivery of nursing care

  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) training completion within 1 year of hire and maintenance of certification.

    Valued but not required educational/licensure, skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree is desirable.

  • Has at least five (5) years of progressively responsible experiences in Nursing
