How will you make an impact?

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of engineers to prepare new product designs for full-scale deployment to our factories and customers. This position will work closely with design engineering to define manufacturing requirements within the new product development process. The candidate will manage cross functional deliverables, develop schedules, track progress, and ensure new products are brought to market on time and meet all quality and cost targets. The individual will act as the primary liaison between design engineering, supply chain, service and manufacturing to ensure that all stakeholder requirements are met. This position will have dual reporting stricture to the Sr. Director of R&D and the Sr. Director of Operations

What will you do?

  • Lead and manage the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team to execute the NPI deliverables to facilitate a smooth transition to full scale manufacturing

  • Participate in early-stage product development activities, communicate expectations and ensure the successful capture of manufacturing, procurement, quality, and validation requirements.

  • Apply DFx methods into new product designs. Work with design engineering to integrate DFx principles early in the design process and promote a concurrent engineering approach throughout the organization.

  • Define, document and establish the manufacturing process & production line

  • Utilize PFMEA, SPC, RCCA and other tools measure and improve quality, yield and cost

  • Perform analyses to establish full production cost expectations

  • Work cross functionally to set initial build plans, drive material readiness with supply chain and evaluate constraints.

  • Capture and drive closure of technical, process and supplier related issues that impact the NPI process during the pre-pilot an pilot stages to ensure high quality full scale production readiness

  • Collaborate with Manufacturing to define product assembly process. Design or specify manufacturing equipment, tooling and test processes as required.

  • Assist in the identification & development of suppliers. Verify technical capabilities are in place to meet production ramps.

  • Coordinate factory acceptance test requirements and execution.

  • Provide a feedback to Engineering to capture lessons learned from product rollouts and provide recommendations for future designs and processes

  • Define validation plans for product component changes / enhancements

  • Support ongoing production of existing products through sustaining engineering including leading a team for PCBA re-design, new vendor qualifications and cost out opportunities

  • Ensure adequate knowledge of phase gate process and engineering deliverables within the team and coaches NPI engineers to continuously improve performance

How will you get here?


  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering discipline

  • 7+ years related manufacturing experience

  • 5+ years design engineering a plus

  • Ability to show prior experience in process development, sustaining engineering, successful new product launches;

  • Typically requires 5 years management experience in a high technology industry environment

  • Experience in Lean manufacturing principles including DFx, FMEA, & SPC; Sig Sigma training a plus

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate across multiple departments to drive high quality execution towards business goals

  • Strong project management skills with ability to prioritize key deliverables while meeting overall goals

  • U.S. Citizen or green card required

  • Up to 15% travel
