What’s the role?

As a Business Analyst in our Upstream IT organisation, you'll be providing vital insights and analytical support to our gas global business partners, with a particular focus on strategic corporate finance processes, from portfolio management to business planning. Always with a view to how changes can improve overall business operations.

You can expect to be defining and monitoring project requirements and progress, reviewing business processes, setting objectives and identifying risks. Plus, spotting any opportunities for enhancing efficiency, whether it be financial, operational, or technological. You’ll be taking full advantage of your technical expertise and knowledge of new technologies, researching potential solutions and innovative ideas. Before communicating, and helping to implement, your recommended changes.

Positioning yourself as a trusted advisor and expert within the business, you’ll rise to the challenge of resolving any conflicting interests, presenting compelling business cases, and using your natural people skills to nurture relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, from software suppliers and developers to technology vendors.

More specific duties will include:

  • Interpreting and evaluating research data, and developing integrated business analyses.

  • Planning primary and secondary market research studies in support of specific initiatives.

  • Constructing workflow charts, studying system capabilities, and writing specifications.

  • Delivering and improving system and database design.

What we need from you

We’re keen to talk to men and women with proven experience working within IT business analysis, ideally with some understanding of finance. Along with a Bachelor’s degree within IT or a similar discipline, we’d hope to see as much of the following on your CV:

  • Commercial knowledge combined with expertise in improving business processes.

  • A broad understanding of the application of IT, plus in-depth knowledge of at least one specific technical area.

  • Professional certificates within business analysis (preferably, CBAP, AAC or PBA).

  • Understanding of business strategy elements, allowing you to analyze and communicate the financial and operational impact of any changes

  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills, which you will be able to deploy in complex stakeholder management environments.
