BMO Financial Group Content Manager, BMO Private Wealth in Toronto, Ontario


The Content Manager is responsible for the development and execution of various types of content (i.e. social media, e-newsletters, online presence, content marketing, podcasts, video, etc.) to support Private Wealth business objectives. Reporting to the Senior Content Manager, this role will support development of a Private Wealth content strategy to ensure that content marketing plans build the Private Wealth brand through thought leadership, increase client engagement, integrate products/services and improve sales/lead conversions.

Key Accountabilities

Project Management / Strategy / Content Creation / Measurement (70%):

  • Contribute to the creation of content strategies that support BMO Private Wealth strategies

  • Support management of work of external vendors, including video development, from conceptual brief to final delivery

  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely and effective execution of powerful digital content to support marketing activities and brand awareness

  • Write, edit and review all copy for Wealth social channels to ensure information is accurate, relevant and timely

  • Author and edit content developed by internal and external partners to ensure consistent quality and messaging

  • Establish and manage content repository for Wealth Marketing

  • Consistently track and report on KPIs for content initiatives (e.g. SEO rankings, organic visits, video views, app completes, etc.) and identify potential opportunities and improvements to drive an increase in leads/conversions and engagements.

  • Proactively make recommendations and enhancements to improve content

  • Follow/track the use of content by FI’s and other industries to share learnings and implications

  • Ensure Private Wealth content is aligned with enterprise, legal and compliance; abide by governance process for content development and contribute to continuously optimizing it

Relationship Management (20%)

  • Cultivate interactive relationships with Wealth Marketing and Enterprise Marketing stakeholders to understand BMO’s content strategies and best practices

  • Represent the Private Wealth team on projects and initiatives as required to ensure alignment with enterprise priorities

  • Work closely with internal partners such as legal, regulatory, compliance, channels, etc. to ensure seamless execution of content plans

Administration (10%)

  • Recognize new standards, create new processes and partner with enterprise services team to update them as needed.

  • Understand requirements and monitor overall compliance to all digital policies, procedures, and brand guidelines, identifying areas of concern to be completed or escalating as needed.


Education & Experience

  • University Degree (Business/Marketing focus an asset)

  • Marketing experience including advertising, direct marketing, collateral, digital, and social preferred

  • Demonstrated experienced working in large, matrix organizations with internal and external partners

  • Demonstrated success in simultaneously bringing multiple projects through to successful completion

  • Experience with presenting and interacting with executives

  • Experience as a People Manager and demonstrated results to develop and coach a high performing team

  • Demonstrated understanding of the Wealth Management industry preferred


  • Strong change agent with the ability to influence/motivate transformational change

  • Superior interpersonal, relationship-building and collaboration skills with peers, partners and executives

  • Strong analytical skills to be used to support recommendations and drive decision quality

  • Strong written/oral skills with proven ability to translate into influential communication/presentations

  • Project management and ability to manage multiple business priorities and stakeholders at once

  • Proven problem solving, negotiation and decision-making skills

  • Creative evaluation skills to deliver appropriate feedback on marketing materials vs. business objectives

  • Ability to solve problems creatively and independently

  • Self starter who proactive, resourceful, driven and has a bias for action

  • Must be able to work in a team environment with a multi-disciplinary group

  • Leadership skills and coaching abilities and build a high performing team

  • Entrepreneurial spirit and can-do attitude

  • Adaptable and flexible to meet changing business needs
