Mercer Global Investments Canada Limited (Delegated Solutions) is a global multi-manager business that specializes in developing and managing multi-manager product solutions for clients across a range of asset classes and risk profiles. MGIC currently has an opening available in their Toronto office for an Investment Management Back Office Manager
Reporting to the Head of Operations for the Solutions and Implementation Team, the Investment Management Back Office Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day to day delivery of services. This includes oversight of client activity including cash flow management and trading as well as reporting relating to the Mercer Funds. The successful candidate will work closely with the Client Implementation Manager, the Centralized Strategy Manager, the Client Service Team and the Investment Team. This position is based in Toronto.
Ensuring the day to day operations processes are carried out accurately and effectively. This includes:
Cash flow monitoring Trade processing and reconciliation Follow up with service providers as necessary Oversight on the semi-annual review of the Mercer Funds Financial Statements:
As completed by 3rd party service provider, Including external audit review. Oversight and review of corporate and fund expenses Client service support
Provide support to the Product and Solutions Centralized Implementation Team to transition new clients to Mercer. This includes:
Input on transition timelines and project plans and communicating that to the team Co-ordination with various teams on transition activities including working with client service, the investment team, delegated operational technology support, Mercer Funds administrator, client custodians, transition managers and Mercer sub-advisors. Oversight on the completion of client audit requests and special ad hoc requests Oversight on annual client updates for regulatory purposes Special Projects
Since Mercer Delegated Solutions is a rapidly growing business there are many special projects that the successful candidate will run/participate in as required.
Product development and documentation Technical upgrades (system enhancements/installations) Process documentation including:
Maintenance of existing processes Documentation of new processes Internal audits Sub-advisor implementations and transitions Regulatory review/submission Qualifications 7+ years of relevant experience in financial services: investment fund vendor or portfolio manager. Strong knowledge of investment operations including cash flow management and trading. This includes investment products, investment manager inter-relationships, institutional client servicing, compliance procedures, trust and custody Hands on experience with Charles River Investment Solutions Working knowledge of the processes required for the development of new investment products Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team and deliver quality work on time Individual must be a hands on contributor Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal) are a must. An undergraduate degree in a relevant commercial, business or finance discipline. The candidate must also be able to multi-task, demonstrate creativity, be flexible to handle responsibilities beyond the core job, and be articulate. The candidate must be well rounded and be able to articulate why taking this position would be appealing from a career perspective. Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work very collaboratively are imperative.
