Marsh & McLennan Accounting Analyst in Urbandale, Iowa

Marsh and McLennan Companies is seeking an Accounting Analyst to assist in the creation of and provide input on strategic documents including Project Business cases, Assessments, Communication plans and detailed project plans. An Accounting Analyst in the Controllership group will be responsible for: Analyzes data when required - Researches problems/issues and recommends solutions Provides tactical analysis associated with projects Tests system enhancements, upgrades Liaison between IT and user group Supports the production users in their day to day jobs Participates in projects as assigned by providing input to the project structure and acting as a SME (Subject Matter Expert). Completes assigned tasks in projects managed by external PM’s. Present project updates/presentations to senior level management within Finance Able to use different applications to create various forms of output as needed. Working to improve processes and tools used within the program of work Lead small teams on minor projects - Use the appropriate tools to manage projects Tracks tasks and follows up with responsible individuals Escalates issues when appropriate Keep management informed of progress with projects or tasks assigned Qualifications Above average written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external customers Strong analytical skills Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively Detail oriented to ensure work has been completed accurately Ability to work effectively in a team environment Advanced Excel skills; Advanced knowledge working with/creating macros and databases Basic knowledge of SQL Basic knowledge working with Microsoft Visio Results oriented, solution driven with the ability to see the big picture Self starter and self directed Marsh & McLennan Companies is a global professional services firm offering clients advice and solutions in the areas of risk, strategy and people.
