Oracle Retail Branding Compliance is a specialised solution for the lifecycle management of private label, own branded products and Oracle is the market leader for this significant market opportunity.
Brand Compliance accounts for over 65% of the systems being used globally with 8 of 10 of private label suppliers using the solution for more than one customer. As these leading grocery retailers expand their private label into further categories we are seeing a growing demand for the same level of supply chain and product compliance across their entire portfolio including fashion.
The adoption rate has increased over recent years due to raised consumer and media attention to product origins and safety. Worldwide legislation and labelling laws have intensified in response creating additional overhead, complexity and liability for brand owners. Increased awareness of supplier ethics with regards to slavery, under aged labor and building safety joined with a market need for greater sustainability, reduced carbon foot print and fair trade, has led the fashion and the general merchandising markets showing signs of recognizing the importance of compliance management.
The business development solution specialist roles will report within our sales consulting group and have specific objective for driving demand and sales enablement for the Oracle Brand Compliance Solution.
As a Business Development Manager you will be responsible for the planning and execution of direct sales campaigns into the specialised business domain of grocery, fashion and general merchandise retailers. The role will be expected to be self-sufficient in demand generation, qualification of need, product demonstration and evolve opportunities to closure with our direct sales organisation.
The BDM will work in collaboration with the Retail Global Business Unit Solution Management Group (SMG) for Oracle Retail Branding Compliance along with our field territory sales organisation. The SMG team is headed up by the founder of the solution and comprises of industry and domain subject matter experts. SMG will support the BDM with market research, campaign planning, messaging and positioning, events, product demonstration support and detailed solution workshops. The SMG team are also responsible for business growth, product direction and strategy, implementation partners and marketing campaigns.
The BDM will take direction and leadership on campaigns, engagements and daily activities from our solutions management brand compliance leader and SVP of Retail Sales. The BDM will provide engagement and weekly updates to the SMG Lead. The BDM and SMG Lead will jointly provide updates to the Sales and RGBU Leadership. The BDM will structurally and operationally report into the Sales / Sales Consulting group .
Experience / Attributes
The BDM should have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in marketing, selling or consulting on solutions and services such as; Product Lifecycle, Quality, Compliance, Sourcing, Formulation, Auditing, Traceability, Testing, Transparency, Brokering and consumer goods.
Vast experience in working with Grocery, Fashion or General Merchandise retailers.
Ability to demonstrate an aptitude to educational and consulting sales. The market is still emerging requiring a nurturing process to secure the trust of the target business user and develop the opportunity and business case.
You will be able to operate self-sufficiently within the region and will need to demonstrate self-motivation and discipline. Significant travel will be required to develop opportunity across the region.
Fluent in core European languages of English, French and/or German and located with easy access to transit across the EMEA region
Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Overlay sales personnel providing specialist product expertise to the sales force.
Partners with Account, Technology, and Application sales representatives to qualify and close new business on Oracle solutions. Provides specific industry or product expertise to facilitate the closing of deals within sales representatives territory. Interacts with sales team to architect the solution, and develop and execute solution strategies for market. Manages solution opportunities to obtain appropriate and necessary resources for all qualified opportunities. Leads teams in the sales process for establishing market visibility and deal visibility. Presents/demonstrates solution to high level clients and industry conference attendees. May provide training to field sales on industry/solutions. Builds and maintains a network and up to date specific industry or product knowledge.
Acknowledged authority within the Corporation. Provides leadership and expertise in the development of new products/services/processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology. 12 years applicable experience preferred. Subject matter expertise in industry/product space. Knowledge of key industry leaders and management. Knowledge of Oracle competition. Presentation and product demonstration experience. Previous consultative selling experience preferred. Excellent communication, negotiating, and closing skills with prospects and customers. Travel may be needed. BA/BS degree in related field.
