We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Technical Manager at our Washington plants. The Technical Manager provides overall supervision and management of the Technical Engineering group and Maintenance in a lean manufacturing, packaging, and distribution environment and is responsible for production line design, acquisition, implementation, and improvement, as well as budget management and capital forecasts for facility and production related capital projects.


  • Promotes a safety culture and awareness within their area of responsibility at all times, as well as throughout the plant.

  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, local, and corporate policies, laws, regulations, and safety requirements.

  • Prepares and controls budgets and maintains cost center accountability for engineering and maintenance groups including capital forecasts for projects supporting manufacturing, packaging, distribution, and facility needs.

  • Tracks favorably to all technical area Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as, Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs, MRO cycle counts, and inventory turns.

  • Ensures proper PM programs are completed and are in compliance with all regulatory agency requirements.

  • Supervises and determines workload and priority for direct reports.

  • Manages and incorporates lean manufacturing initiatives in line & product optimization, quality initiatives, quality management, and loss reduction.

  • Seeks, implements, and provides expertise for relentless improvement of mechanical & operational systems and looks for opportunities to ensure that safety, quality, and cost requirements are adhered.

  • Works with operations management in support of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) goals and improvements.

  • Works closely with the Continuous Improvement Manager on LEAN initiatives.

  • Provides direction and leadership in the resolution of production-related problems.

  • Ensures compliance of cGMP, SOP, and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).

  • Continuously develops personnel for succession planning through proper training and guidance.

  • Performs additional duties and projects as required.


Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with ten plus (10+) years of experience in a Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) and/or Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulated industry and at least seven (7) years of experience in a senior leadership role with a combination of education and experience that is likely to provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the job.


  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, FDA regulations, and cGMP requirements related to the manufacture of nutritional supplements.

  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and requirements.

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals.

  • Experience with CAD software, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Project and SAP.

  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Ability to perform moderate physical activity including standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day and up to twelve (12) hours per shift; lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds; and work onsite in a light industrial environment, including some exposure to non-toxic dust, while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and clean room attire.

  • Ability to maintain punctuality and predictable attendance.
