Oracle Hardware Developer 4 in Vienna, Virginia

Evaluates reliability of materials, properties and techniques used in production; plans, designs and develops electronic parts, components, integrated circuitry, mechanical systems, equipment and packaging, optical systems and/or DSP systems.

Responsible for designing, developing, modifying and evaluating electronic, electro-mechanical or mechanical components, assemblies or integrated circuitry for hardware systems for the external market. Includes new design, as well as modification activities that results in significant product enhancement. Activities encompass design, analysis, testing and process development using engineering principles and methods. Technical disciplines may include electrical and logical design of printed circuit boards or integrated circuits; mechanical design of electronics enclosures or integrated circuit packaging; and embedded software/firmware design.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of engineering or related experience.

This Principal Engineer role will lead the effort to define and drive hardware product regulatory change processes. This challenging position will require leadership in heading a multifunctional, multi-organizational team to achieve results, and to ensure cross-functional communications & prioritization. It requires excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills. The position must be able to fluidly communicate with people from different functions, and levels. The candidate must have a demonstrated ability to drive closure. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of hardware and process change management. The work will require the ability to define a robust process where none may currently exist. Business metrics and checkpoints must be defined to ensure the new processes have the ability to adjust over time.

The Principal Engineer will report into the Technical Compliance Strategy group within the Global Trade Compliance organization. There are numerous opportunities for the right candidate to influence and lead change across the entire hardware development organization. This Principal Engineer will track Technical Compliance Regulation Changes and provide transition management support on such changes. There is substantially increased cadence of regulatory change around the world driving product modification.

This Principal Engineer will focus on substance compliance regulations (like RoHS, REACh, or IATA DG), but the ideal candidate will have broad technical compliance experience (Product Safety, EMC Design and or Test, Wireless Certifications), including Global Market Access approvals. Regulatory experience must include: FCC, CE, Industry Canada, China CCC, Korea KC, India BIS & TEC, etc. The ideal candidate must be fluent in the use of spreadsheets, databases, PowerPoint (or similar), Word (or similar), AgilePLM/FusionPD (or similar). Must work well in a team environment. Candidate must have experience writing specifications, and analyzing Compliance test data. Candidate must have strong analytical and problem solving skills with keen attention to detail. Candiate must have experience in Information Technology Equipment (ITE) product design. Candidate must have proven experience tracking and leading regulatory change.
