Job Description:

The Alberta Light Tight Oil asset includes Canada’s promising Liquids Rich Shale (LRS) plays in Fox Creek (sweet), Gold Creek (sour) and Rocky Mountain House (sweet). The main field office is located in Edson approximately 2 hours west of Edmonton, Alberta and consists of Operations, Maintenance, HSE and Engineering (\"Technical\") teams. A satellite office is established in Grande Prairie with a subset of the above departments, exclusively focused on Gold Creek .

The Senior Facilities Engineer reports into the Technical Team which is a multi-disciplinary engineering group responsible for Electrical, Process Automation and Controls, Process, Mechanical, Small Projects, Asset Integrity and Process Safety aspects of surface production. The Surveillance, Development, P&T and functional organizations (e.g. Finance, HR, IT, ER) are located in Calgary and are fully embedded into the asset to drive today’s competitive production plan and charter future growth. The combined asset currently produces >50 kboe/d of Hydrocarbons to significantly expand with multiple Central Processing Facilities (CPFs) as the various areas mature to Harvest mode. By meeting and beating the business plan targets, Alberta LTO will help position Unconventionals for material and sustainable growth for Royal Dutch Shell.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience in Onshore Oil production. Experience in Upstream Operations, Shales (Montney or Duvernay formations) and/or sour production are preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Mechanical or Chemical engineering discipline.

  • Eligibility for Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation in AB is required.

  • Skill level in process/equipment troubleshooting (including gas lift compressors) and detailed engineering of fit-for-purpose solutions to mitigate deferment and optimize production (construction work packages < 2 mln CAD).

  • Skill level in process modelling of gathering system to develop insights and predict bottlenecks and develop solutions.

  • Knowledge level understanding of Asset Integrity – Process Safety Management (AI-PSM) concepts and processes, including PHA's and HAZOPs

  • Knowledge level competency demonstrated for Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) techniques and methods, preferably including Causal Learning.

  • Demonstrated abilities to work across multi-disciplinary teams that could include operations, leadership, finance, engineering, regulatory, and others. Ability to grasp the integrity production system (from wells to sales point) and collaborate with 3rd party to maximum Shell production.

  • Change Management skills, including knowledge level understanding of the Management of Change (MOC) process

  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and effectively exercise independent judgment and initiative.

  • Should have valid Alberta Driver's license
