Job Description:

  • Deliver the internal and external communications to support the businesses, assets and projects in country;

  • Support in managing Shell’s brand and reputation in country; develop and execute a Country Brand & Reputation Plan that builds, maintains and manages a network of key external stakeholder relationships that includes media, industry and investor associations, academia, multilateral organizations, in line with Group Comms standards and policies, including Shell General Business Principles;

  • Manage Internal Communications (IC) for the country, in line with guidance from IC Centre of Excellence (CoE).

  • Manage media relations for the country, in line with guidance from Media Centre of Excellence (CoE) and manage local disclosure process and consistency of messages in Shell Kazakhstan in conjunction with Group Media, IR and Legal and according to global processes;

  • Work closely with other functions, such as GR, HSSE, Social Performance, Operations, Commercial, HR etc. to identify and mitigate potential risks and issues that could possibly harm Shell's reputation;

  • Provide strategic advice on how to respond/adapt to current and changing external dynamics.

  • Provide advice on the Non-technical risks (NTRs) integration impacting commercial decision making in Shell Kazakhstan’s portfolio. Act as a focal point for NTRs integration.

  • Builds external relationships through select organizations and conferences/events/platforms that provide a platform to tell Shell’s capabilities, achievements, products/services, and thought leadership to build preference with partners, customers and other stakeholders

  • Create and develop messages, ideas and content relevant to target audiences. Draft and provide input to speeches/notes targeted to external and internal audiences.

  • Support existing as well as potential new business development opportunities to help advancing business agendas and obtain license to operate while protecting and profiling Shell’s reputation

  • Build connection to Shell ER CoEs to leverage global campaigns in-country where appropriate

  • Manage ER projects to enhance and maintain positive image of the Company involving multitude of national and international stakeholders whilst managing down costs. Oversee projects implementation and coordinate the right use of internal and external tools, budget and timelines.

  • Plan and design media events to generate favourable visibility of Shell’s business and senior leaders.

  • Develop and implement digital programs in-line with global digital campaigns. Facilitate sharing of Shell’s digital activities internally (Yammer, intranet).

Drive Crisis preparedness in country from communications perspective and act as an alternate to Crisis Communications Lead.

  • Senior and able writer, with excellent command of English, Russian and Kazakh (written and spoken) at all levels from senior managers to country-level stakeholders. Ability to deliver complex technical and commercial messages in an effective and simple way, depending on target audience. Ability to write accurately and with impact, often under pressure.

  • A degree in either business administration/marketing, international relations, economics or political science. PR qualification can be a plus.

  • Experience with upstream GR-ER would be a significant advantage.

  • Experience of end-to-end delivery of marketing/PR campaigns through third party contractors.

  • Ability to judge the impact on Shell's reputation of a particular activity, event or decision and to advise on necessary action.

  • Results-focused: performance potential and expectations from the Shell Kazakhstan portfolio are high and this translates into multitude of innovative and complex engagement projects.

  • Basic financial capability (mostly relating to project management and team administration).

  • Highly organised: there is a core set of table stakes executive admin that needs to be organized and executed. High level immediate exposure linked with the executives’ external engagements.

  • Ability to handle emergencies and sensitive issues.

  • Proven skills to deliver under time pressure.
