LOCATION: Chicago, Illinois_DUTIES:_ Lead projects analyzing claim, persistency, and business mix trends for Accident & Health (“A&H”) and Life insurance products. Effectively communicate technical analysis and results to executive team. Leverage detailed knowledge of products and pricing expectations to identify areas in need of management action. Recommend, qualify, and communicate impacts of specific management actions. Develop processes to monitor and communicate results of management actions. Understand and communicate drivers of benefit ratio movements as part of the financial planning and claim reserve processes. Continuously improve processes and methodologies to enhance efficiency of inforce experience monitoring and management action monitoring. Develop predictive models to assess effectiveness of various underwriting protocols. Develop actuarial expertise and work to attain and/or maintain Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries. Conduct ad hoc analysis, as required. _REQTS:_ Must have Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Financial Mathematics, Actuarial Science or a related field plus two (2) years of experience in the job offered, or as an Actuarial Assistant, Actuarial Intern, or a related position. Employer will accept pre-or post-Master’s degree experience. Must have two (2) years of experience within the supplemental accident and health insurance industry. Must have two (2) years of experience: conducting product experience study and proactive product performance monitoring to improve persistency and profitability; recommend corrective actions on pricing, underwriting, claim process and sales, and achieve management goals utilizing various database systems; spreadsheet programs and business analytics software, including Excel, VBA, SQL, GGY AXIS, Qlikview, R Studio and PowerBI; creating and maintaining dashboard reports in PowerBI, reconciling data, writing data script and set analysis, updating report documentations, preparing financial exhibits to meet different stakeholders’ requirements; enhancing the process and improving efficiency of regular reports for business management or to support regulatory and financial reporting needs utilizing database manipulation and programming skills; developing quantitative and qualitative criteria, new analytics alerts and reports to detect poor performing business areas, claim pattern changes, and regional sales changes as well as communicating the analysis and findings; analyzing financial results and reviewing others’ analytical and technical work products in Excel, SQL, or other spreadsheet/database software; providing technical training to team members, including database knowledge and query skills; managing multiple project priorities from various stakeholders; leading and managing deep dive experience review projects; anticipating project needs, defining project scope, and developing alternative solutions; conducting actual to expected experience studies; conducting claim and lapse studies; and constructing and evaluating predictive models to support business portfolio management goals. Must hold Associate of Society of Actuaries (“ASA”) or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (“FSA”) designation.
