Combined Insurance Attorney in United States
Chubb's Uniondale New York House Counsel firm is seeking a skilled New York litigator for the position of Casualty Attorney. The Casualty Attorney will handle a caseload of the firm’s matters venued primarily in Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk counties.
The successful candidate must be an attorney licensed to practice before New York's State and Federal Courts, should possess 5 years of demonstrated success in litigating a wide range of New York tort matters, and should possess the professional stature and business acumen needed to be a productive member of the firm.
The successful candidate should also possess: · Experience litigating a range of general liability issues, e.g. premises liability, construction site accidents, elevator accidents, motor vehicle liability, product liability, industrial accidents, municipal liability, contractual indemnity, medical and economic damages. · Enthusiasm and aptitude for developing the ability for trying cases to a jury. · Prior success with written advocacy, e.g. summary judgment and/or appellate. · Conversance with New York State and Federal Court procedural law, pleading, discovery, motion practice and pretrial techniques and strategies · Strong oral and written advocacy skills. · Conversance with substantive law applicable to New York tort defense litigation, with the analytical skills needed to address legal issues and evaluate. · Commitment to and proficiency in effectively and strategically communicating with clients, Claim Department customers and law firm colleagues regarding litigated matters, including consistent adherence to time-sensitive formal reporting requirements. · Commitment, enthusiasm and skills to provide excellent customer service to clients, claim examiners, internal customers within firm · Technologically astute so to thrive as a litigator in a digital environment · Ability and commitment to work effectively with others, as needed. · Ability to work independently, efficiently and carefully in a high volume environment

Candidate must possess a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and be admitted to the practice of law by the New York State bar and the U.S. District Courts in New York; Must be a member of the Bar in good standing; Must have a valid New York State Driver’s license; Must have at least 5 years of experience successfully litigating through trial and appeal a broad range of complex and high exposure casualty insurance defense matters in state and federal court in New York; Must have in depth knowledge of current state and federal procedural and substantive law; Must be able to demonstrate effective oral and written advocacy skills and negotiation tactics; Must have ability to apply analytical skill in addressing complex legal issues; Must have demonstrated successful experience in communicating strategically with the firm’s clients, Claim Department, Court personnel and members of the legal community.
