Vinnell Arabia Chief, Automation Operations in United States


Lead Change; provide Logistics Information Systems (LIS) support to all VA and MNG entities, track LIS system status, and provide training and automation support on interim and all newly developed LIS systems as directed. Coordinate, synchronize, integrate, review, analyze, report and make recommendations on trends and ways to improve effectiveness and efficiencies on LIS systems and processes. Review all automation related documents, policies, and activities to ensure compliance with stated standards. Provide the Manager of the Materiel Readiness Center (MRC) with automation related functional advice and assistance.

A. Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Lead Change in Logistics Information Systems Operations, Training, and Organization.

  2. Plan, coordinate, synchronize, integrate, review, analyze, report and make recommendations for improvement to all LIS operations and training within Vinnell Arabia’s current and future contract requirements.

  3. Keep running estimates and conduct Concept of Support development in support of Vinnell Arabia Sustainment Operations.

  4. Assist in coordination with MNG General Directorate of Information Center (GDIC) to sustain and improve operations of all f MNG LIS systems and networks, containing wholesale and retail stockage levels and property accountability data bases in order to improve unit readiness.

  5. Plan and conduct training as required on all LIS systems for all Vinnell Arabia current and future contract requirements, to include identifying, researching and resolving systemic problems of all MNG LIS systems, train all MNG units on producing reports and providing data processing services, train Automation Sections on how to update Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).

  6. Assist in the establishment of new LIS systems to MNG units, distribute/assist in applying new software updates, in establishing and maintaining user accounts on local and networked systems. Monitor Contract and maintenance support including warranty and maintenance repair. Trouble shoot, isolate, and resolve complex LIS specific issues involving hardware, software, and network issues, and recommend and assist in solutions and repairs in order to mitigate issues.

  7. Performs other missions and administrative duties as required by the Manager, Material Readiness Center.

B. Independence: Acts under general supervision of the Manager, Materiel Operations Center, with considerable latitude in choice of methods in accomplishing broad objectives.

A. Education Level: Associates Degree in Computer Science/Information System. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Commissioned Officer 25A – Signal, Warrant Officer 255A – Information Service Technician, successfully completed the Warrant Officer Advance Course (WOAC), Senior Non-Commissioned Officer 25B – Information Technology Specialist and graduate of Senior Level Leaders Course, or logistics automation management course or other US Service equivalent. Education level may be substituted with experience on higher level automated logistics management OPNs.

B. Experience: Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in U.S. Military logistics activities with emphasis on staff logistics automation system. Experience in supervision, planning, and operations at higher level logistics related staff activities on logistics support automation management.

C. Specific knowledge, skill, ability, and requirement: Knowledge of commercial computer software including database software, and of local area network (LAN). Knowledge of principles of office automation and computer system analysis; variety of hardware, and operating systems. Must have a strong working knowledge of the functional integration of military supply and distribution systems. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must be computer literate and be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
