Combined Insurance Commercial Insurance Underwriter in United States

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

This underwriter will manage a Chubb Commercial Insurance renewal book for the White Plains territory of approximately $5 Million in written premium. This position will primarily be focused on our core business in Commercial Insurance. Lines of business include Package, Auto, WC, Umbrella and International. Underwriting will include marketing and servicing accounts based on Chubb’s guidelines.

The Underwriter must develop book growth, maintain superior relationships and implement effective and profitable pricing rate strategies. The position will also be responsible for developing and implementing a business plan to grow the Commercial Insurance book through prospect identification and pipeline development in the White Plains/lower Westchester territory. Underwriter will be responsible for $1.5MM-$2MM of new business annually.

The underwriter will have accountability for the financial performance of this book of business, achieving growth for the branch, region and territory. They will identify opportunities for growth within new and existing production sources, identify cross sell opportunities, conduct agency planning/goal setting including monitoring of progress and make regular broker and insured visits (based on business need).

This position reports to the White Plains Commercial Insurance Team Leader.

Skills Required: Candidate will have experience in multi-line package underwriting. Strong sales and marketing skills are also critical. The ability to position accounts and close deals is a key requirement. Must be able to demonstrate success in marketing, producer/book management and new business development. Must also have the ability to successfully negotiate on all levels with both internal and external partners and nurture key producer relations. The ideal candidate for this role will possess a high degree of proficiency with the underwriting process, risk analysis, and work effectively in collaboration with an Underwriting Associate. Effective desk management is critical part of this role. Must have exemplary ability to effectively interact with all levels of customers and coworkers. Knowledge and proficiency with underwriting technical issues, compliance, coverage, products, pricing & strategies expected. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business related software required. We are looking for a candidate who is highly motivated to succeed and is results oriented with solid business acumen.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • 3-5 years underwriting experience
  • Experience underwriting multiple lines of insurance
  • Bachelor’s degree
