JOB SUMMARY: This position will lead all key operating functions of the claim adjudication units located in Chicago, Illinois. Provide vision and leadership for the development and implementation of various claim initiatives that align with the company’s mission, objectives and strategies. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide leadership and technical expertise to achieve profitable growth in our Core products
Direct and oversee day-to-day activities of the Core claim adjudication units to achieve service level objectives and ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of services to internal customers, policy holders, agents, and medical providers
Ensure all Accident, Health, Life, and Fast Pay claims are processed in compliance with key metrics around customer service and file quality
Provide strategic leadership in the development, execution, and monitoring of policies, procedures, and initiatives that align with corporate goals and strategies
Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality
Ensure the Core claim Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are measured and monitored and provide overall direction to ensure quality, service and productivity goals are met
Direct continuous improvement activities/projects of operational processes to increase efficiencies, enhance quality, reduce costs, standardize systems, and/or add value for both internal and external clients
Develop and execute claim strategies as well as resolution strategies for our Core sales channels
Ability to influence and lead others
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strategic thinker with the ability to manage and lead change
Ability to manage a large technical group of insurance professionals
Results-oriented with ability to develop workflow processes and procedures
Ability to manage multiple priorities in an extremely fast-paced environment
10 years of progressive claim leadership experience in Disability, or Health Benefits specific environment (or Workers Comp)
Claim knowledge in Disability, Accident, Health and Life
Advanced knowledge of industry best practices and medical terminology
Knowledge of claim litigation opinions and trends and their impact on claim decisions EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
