Engineering Team Leader

The purpose of this position is to plan, lead, coordinate and execute surface facilities engineering projects in compliance with the company’s framework and integrating with the overall project scope.
The Engineering Lead provides engineering and facility design support for projects in the front end for greenfield and brownfield projects up to execution and operation. Also provides expert functional knowledge for optimum safe asset design and employment of innovative technology to drive continuous improvement of engineering projects for upstream business.
The Engineering Lead is expected to interact and integrate with multi-discipline project management teams either part of Shell, FEDMs, P&T or other entities such us partners or contractors.
Job Role Responsibilities
Demonstrate visible HSSE leadership that fosters appropriate behaviors and ensures compliance with HSSE rules and policies, including the HSSE and SP Control Framework.
Identify competitive upstream technologies and facilities concepts by working in and leading integrated discipline teams.
Provide high quality and efficient engineering services/support to greenfield and brownfield projects (FEED and Detailed Design).
Manage Shell staff and contractor engineering resources (assign, monitor, forecast and adjust) for the project portfolio workload. Coordinate with other team and project leaders for staff load balancing. On occasion act as Front End Development Manager (FEDM).
Monitor project progress and proactively intervene to ensure successful delivery.
Implement strategies to enable effective project execution, including standard work processes and tools, contracting strategies, and assurance/quality processes, including competitive scoping processes.
Ensure designs conforms with the company's standards and intent.
Ensure consistent engineering and operational best practices to fulfill functional requirements in a safe and efficient manner
Manage engineering functional assurance requirements. Possibility also to become Technical Authority in Bolivia on certain engineering disciplines (e.g. process engineering).
Provide technical assistance during the execution of commissioning and start-up activities either for Shell Bolivia’s operated areas or non-operated ventures.
Liaison with professionals of other departments (e.g. Subsurface, Operations, Production, Cost Estimator) to support development opportunities and deliver optimized proposals
Accountable for daily management of the engineering team.
Accountable for developing, maintaining, and continuously improving the discipline capabilities (people, processes, and tools) required.
Accountable to deliver the engineering for surface facilities.

Minimum twelve years of relevant experience in facilities engineering design and construction for the upstream industry.
BSc degree in Engineering (Chemical, Process, Petroleum or related engineering disciplines) from a recognized University.
Experience with the entire, Project life cycle for upstream facilities (from conceptual design through to final commissioning and handover).
In-depth knowledge of the key professional disciplines of Project Management (planning, estimating, conceptual and detailed engineering, HSSE, contracts & procurement, construction, commissioning and cost control).
Experience in design of onshore gas production and associated facilities in a client/operator environment.
Experience leading engineering projects and contract management.
Good knowledge of the industry standards and practices relevant to engineering design and process safety.
Strong and effective written and oral communication skills supported by interpersonal skills.
Ability to challenge others in a constructive manner and negotiate with internal peers and partner's representatives to influence decisions or ways of working.
Excellent written and presentation skills, with ability to adapt style and content of presentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
A commitment to the highest standards of HSE.
Must be a flexible thinker, able to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances.
Fluency in English and Spanish preferably.
Team working ability.
Adaptability to time pressures and change.
