The ESIS Business Development Manager, Integrated Absence Management serves as a technical expert responsible for generating revenue towards the overall ESIS asbence management revenue goals. The incumbent will be charged with identifying sales and revenue opportunities for ESIS as well as demonstrating to the external customers our commitment to developing business in the leave & disability space with a primary focus towards Integrated Absence Management (IAM). The individual supports and leads sales strategies for fully integrated programs which includes Workers Compensationorstand-alone leave & disability for ESIS either through expansion or new business opportunities generated through both ESIS and Chubb. The Business Development Manager, Integrated Absence Management is a critical role in the success of ESIS overall sales initiatives, and will be required to work closely with the ESIS National Sales Leader, IAM Practice Leader, Chubb National REO’s and Marketing Managers to achieve all organization business goals.


  • Develops strategic sales plans and procedures for products within Integrated Absence Management.

  • Builds relationships to influence acquisition and retention of new customers.

  • Participate on RFP activity collaborating with all operational functions from proposal development to close of sale.

  • Directs and manages all aspects of contract execution with Client Services and Legal Services.

  • Meets or exceeds designated revenue targets and manages expenses to budget goals.

  • Directs post sale activities by working through the implementation process and hand off to client services for client program management.

  • Provide leadership, knowledge, and direction to ensure results across functions internally partnering on cross marketing strategies with other company entities.

  • Manages product and process improvements related to strategy, commiting to continually improve capabilities and results.

  • Collaborates with IAM Practice Leader and appropriate Finance Division staff on client pricing and financial issues.

  • Remains current and aware of market trends, competitive practices and customer needs.

  • Attends industry functions and upholds professional image of the corporation. Represents the corporation at conferences and seminars.

  • Continues to improve sales skills and product knowledge through courses and seminars.


  • 4 years of integrated absence management experience for middle market clients (500 lives or greater).
  • Minimum 4 years of successful brokerage sales in benefits and PC markets, preferred.
  • Track record of annual sales in excess of $2M, preferred
  • College degree, in Marketing, Finance, or Business preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel nationally, about 50% of the time.
  • Strong knowledge of brokerage industry trends and competitor benchmarks.
  • Demonstrated pattern of achieving results and objectives in previous roles.
  • Business savvy, profit and efficiency orientation.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills including effective relationship builder.
  • Must be willing to work under annual production goal requirements.
  • Strategic understanding of the impact of a sales strategy on business results.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong negotiating techniques and sales closing skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Miller Heiman Sales Training preferred.
