Military Hiring Program:

Oxy is excited to transition military veterans into the Oil & Gas industry with our military hiring program. The program will consist of three (3) developmental rotations in roles of increasing responsibility, with a final rotation being into a full time field based assignment.

Production Technician

Production Technicians are responsible for oil and gas well operations, well testing, operating and maintaining field equipment and facilities, surveillance of general field operations and maintenance of various databases regarding production and operations

Essential Job Duties:

  • Types of well include flowing, beam pump (with electronic pump-off controller), ESP (electric submersible pump), plunger lift, water injection and water disposal.

  • Types of facilities include production tank batteries, flowlines, LACT (lease automatic custody transfer) facilities, water injection plants, natural gas compression, cathodic protection and metering devices (electronic gas measurement and others).

  • Employ safe work practices

  • Utilize acceptable environmental procedures to maximize earnings while minimizing costs on assigned oil and gas producing properties.

Automation Specialists

Automation Specialists will be responsible for the design, specification, installation, programming, calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automation equipment in order to improve plant or oilfield system operation/uptime and reduce total operating costs.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Working knowledge of SPOC

  • Excellent knowledge of automation host systems

  • Understanding of diagnostic and repair skills in automation systems

  • Understanding of testing equipment pertaining to job, including oscilloscope, function generators, radio service monitor, etc.

  • Ability to perform general PM work: testing end devices, temperature shutdown, pressure switches, level controls

  • Understanding of pneumatic instrumentation: calibration and maintenance

  • The ability to read electronic schematics, identifying components, and understanding their functions

  • Ability to learn to calibrate and troubleshoot automation end devices

  • Ability to read, program, install and troubleshoot PLC programs

Electrical Technician

Electrical Technicians will be responsible for the troubleshooting, installation, programming, calibration, preventive maintenance, process understanding and repair of electrical equipment in order to improve field system operation/uptime and reduce total operating costs.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of installing, troubleshooting, and repairing switchboard control panels and components, motor circuits, building

  • Demonstrate knowledge of mechanical relay logic and ladder logic as well as programming simple ladder logic programs

  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance on medium voltage electrical equipment such as switchgear, breakers, etc.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing

  • Capable of managing and maintaining invoices/billing, with an acute attention to detail

Equipment Technician

Equipment Technicians will be responsible for the Preventive/predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of oilfield surface equipment. This includes knowledge and skills to maintain equipment reliability of various pumps, compression (screw and reciprocating packages), and associated plant/field surface equipment.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Thorough knowledge of surface equipment types and applications related to oil & gas processing

  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems and perform root cause failure analysis

  • Ability to repair minor mechanical problems on required equipment

  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance and manage operating cost within budget

  • Experience working with high and low speed gas engines

  • Capable of basic troubleshooting of automation and electrical equipment.

  • Also capable of repairing some equipment, such as actuators & level alarms and of changing out fuses, relays, etc.

  • Competent in computer programs applicable to his/her daily work processes (Microsoft programs, Maximo)

Additional Qualifications:

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as by self without direct supervision

  • Demonstrated self-starter with the drive and initiative to challenge the status quo

  • Technical skills related to basic math and analytical processes

  • Proficiency in the use of personal computer utilizing a windows environment

  • Ability to keep neat and accurate records

  • General mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills

  • Ability to identify operational inefficiencies

  • Proficient in MS Office software suite

  • Understanding of business fundamentals

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record

Qualifications

Education

  • At least High School Grad or GED. Some college or technical training preferred

Professional/Technical Qualifications/Licenses/Certifications

  • Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record

Experience

  • 5 years of industry experience preferred

  • In lieu of industry experience will consider the following fields: Avionics, Heating and Refrigeration, Communications, Automation, radar technology, mechanical, electrical and/or nuclear technologies

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong initiative and self-starter

  • Multi-task orientation with skills related to work prioritization

  • Working knowledge of oil and gas production operations preferred, but will train acceptable candidate.

  • Understanding of importance of environmental and safe work practices

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as by self without direct supervision

  • Technical skills related to math and analytical processes

  • Proficiency in the use of personal computer utilizing a windows environment

  • Ability to keep neat and accurate records

  • General mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills

  • Ability to identify operational inefficiencies
