Combined Insurance Property CAT Analyst in United States

CAT Analyst drives the cultivation, collection and assessment of significant exposures within the National Desk and Field Property units to aid in the overall projection of CAT events. The role will work closely with the NDU, Field and Actuarial teams to develop individual and aggregate claim perspectives that influence claim projections of significant claim exposures both known and unknown as well as potential IBNR. The role will also partner with Group Claims and Reinsurance resources to establish effective gross and net projections on an individual event and aggregate event basis.
CAT Reporting- Provide analytical support and oversight for the NDU relating to loss exposures, data and operations. Work with CAT and NDU leadership to prepare summary reports (daily, weekly, etc) for all claims handled within NDU. Responding timely to ad hoc reporting requests, projects and additional duties as required including treasury reports.
Severity- Tracking and identification of large losses to ensure reserve adequacy through direct and coordinated severity file reviews. Ensuring proper identification of reinsurance on a per claim and event basis. Assist in preparing high-exposure large loss LLNs, LLRs and other internal documents for senior management review and approval.
Actuary- Partner with actuary and claim leadership to assist with the CAT financial projection process. Maintaining financial projection data, severity claim tracking and MCC detail. The role will partner to facilitate individual event projections as well as bi-weekly, monthly and quarterly CAT event updates.
Operations- During large scale events, engage with Claim Operations to ensure enhanced processes are in place and fully integrated into NDU workflow (e.g. FNOL intake, registration, after-hours escalation).
Analysis- Review system data, provide insight on event impact and claim trends. Analyze and understand loss development and challenges to exposure assessment.
Claim Technical-. Provide technical advice and guidance as warranted. Evaluate issues that may impact severity, and provide input to handler and adjustment team. Contact Independent Adjusters as warranted.
Data- Ensure appropriate CAT coding in systems and on a claim level basis. Monitor exposure updates on a gross/net basis and identify crossover accounts.
Technical proficiency in personal and commercial claims and an in depth understanding of commercial coverage and loss assessment/evaluation, including dollar one, contingent, market and participation risks and associated losses.
Ability to work closely with adjusting resources to facilitate prompt adjuster recording of CAT information utilized for operational and financial reporting
Ability to review complex losses and be able to determine preliminary estimates of exposure based on file information, preliminary inspection reports and dialogue with the adjuster/IA.
Ability to assemble complex event projections with detailed breakdown by business unit and align them with similarly assembled actuarial projections.
Ability to assemble senior level reports that accurately articulate and depict the current state of operational and financial CAT metrics
Strong computer skills and aptitude with pivot tables, macros, slicers, formulas and new programs as needed.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to draft succinct reports for Senior Level Managers and Executives.
Proven math and analytic skills to forecast and identify trends.
Extremely organized individual that can multi-task multiple streams of information and work within tight deadlines.
Conceptual understanding of insurance financial terminology and reinsurance.
Adaptable, flexible and team/relationship oriented.
Extended/Weekend hours during significant events, peak times or reporting cycles.
Preferred location within the Mid-Atlantic, Atlanta or Northeast.
