Combined Insurance Systems / Business Analyst - Commercial Insurance in United States
The Systems /Business Analyst (SBA) and Agile Leader serves as a product owner/scrum master between the business and the IT organization and will be responsible for working with the IT group to determine features that meet user needs. The SBA will assist in the business process design and documentation as needed for new technology; translate high level business requirements into User Stories for the IT organization; effectively manage the product backlog; and manage changes to such specifications in accordance with Chubb and/or industry standards and processes. The SBA will play an important role in educating the IT organization and the business organization on SAFe Agile, Kanban, Scrum methodologies and help identify the most appropriate methodology based on the nature of the project engagement or team composition.
The SBA is expected to have a dual role with Middle Market group by owning projects and production work in two capacities.
The primary role is to lead in guiding business partners to thorough requirements (epics, user stories when appropriate) and testing strategies, owning issue resolution, and leading acceptance testing*. *The SBA will influence business customers on appropriate problem definitions to allow for solution options (as opposed to defining solutions) and leverage a variety of business process documentation techniques such as process modeling and use cases.
The SBA must ensure that the system is specified to the satisfaction of both the business and technical communities and to that point must develop and demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between Chubb applications and flow of data between the systems. The SBA must be aware of the impact of a project on other user groups and other IT applications and alert others as appropriate.
The other, equally important, role is to be the thought leader and delivery lead for agile transformation in Middle Market. While current methodologies are more waterfall in nature, the SBA must possess knowledge of Agile methodologies and be able to develop scrum master capabilities within an agile team by facilitating discussions, ideations with business. The qualified candidate will define epics, user stories along with acceptance criteria. Being able to also facilitate clarifications between business and offshore development teams is a key skill where demonstrated experience or the ability to do so is required.
The SBA must also build relationships with the platform software vendors as part of the facilitation and clarification duties described above. Training on the technology platforms will be provided as part of the onboarding process. Experience with and knowledge of one or more of the following platforms is an advantage but not strictly required. * Duck Creek – Umbrella / Excess * Duck Creek – Auto * Insurity Bridge - Ocean Marine * Insurity Policy Decisions – Workers Comp * Bespoke Mainframe systems – Package, Inland Marine
Knowledge of the insurance industry is a plus. The ability to expose requirements through detailed questions and propose alternative solutions / options is a key skill.
