Combined Insurance Vice President & Actuary in United States

The Vice President & Actuary will work within the Corporate Actuarial group as part of the Chubb North America Actuarial team. The role is based in our Whitehouse, NJ or Philadelphia, PA office and reports to the Lead Actuary for the Corporate Actuarial team.

This position can be at a VP or AVP level depending on the chosen candidate's experience.

Duties & Responsibilities: 1. Complete annual net and gross loss and ALAE reserve reviews and communicate the results to actuarial and divisional management for all assigned segments. The reviews identify areas of estimated favorable/unfavorable variances to booked reserve levels for possible actions and impacts to financial results and balance sheet levels, and provide feedback on the historical and current financial performance of the various business segments. 2. Provide support to the Corporate Actuary in the communication of reserve review findings to the US Reserve Committees and to internal and external auditors. Responsible for booking of results and review of/commentary on interim A vs E results. 3. Provide support to external actuaries and corporate actuarial for the annual external loss and ALAE reserve review. 4. While analyzing and reconciling data for the reserve reviews, identify material errors in data in financial and actuarial data systems and communicate them to the appropriate persons for correction. Work effectively with others to remedy or resolve known issues. 5. Work on other projects as requested or identified. Requirements: • BS degree or higher in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Finance, or a related field • ACAS; FCAS preferred • Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with ResQ, Access, other MS Office applications a plus • 10 years’ experience with a property and casualty insurer or in a consulting role; recent, meaningful reserving experience • Ability to work effectively with/through a small staff of actuarial analysts and develop such • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
