Job Description

The Test Engineer is responsible for the overall quality and timeliness of test delivery within a test phase for a programme / release / sprint which is measured through Delivery and Service metrics and CSL’s

This role is responsible for preparation and execution activities as defined within the Detailed Test Plan adopting the engineering disciplines and principles contained within the Squad level Strategy focussing on the implementation of Automation (Development / Test0 across the complete SDLC.

Delivering against the estimates is an equally important responsibility which includes planning activities based on preparation and execution rates per person per day, coaching and support more junior members of the team and triaging defects to ensure only valid defects are assigned to resolver groups for investigation and resolution.

Role Responsibilities : -

Responsible for adopting engineering disciplines focussing on automation and the use of automation in agile ways of working and utilising open source tools

Responsible for planning of preparation and execution activities at a phase level based on the implementation of Automation

Responsible for test preparation and supporting more junior team members in coverage techniques and production of test cases (focus on automation techniques, automaton frameworks, automation scripting and implementation)

Responsible for test execution and supporting more junior team members in adoption of automation and tooling

Responsible for Innovation and implementation of lessons learned, continuous process improvements like CTD, ARD, Automation, Agile, DevOps - leading on automation

Responsible for coaching and supporting more junior team members in Dev Ops / Automation techniques

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Proven experience working in a Test Engineer or Test Lead Role

  • Analytical skills

  • Experience designing optimised test coverage

  • Experience managing Junior Test Engineers and Analysts during preparation and execution phases

  • Ability to complete effective and concise reporting with focus on issue and dependency management

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • Educated to a degree level

  • Experience in technical testing using Open Source automation frameworks (selenium, cucumber)

  • Experience with Continuous Integration tools (Jenkins, GIT etc..)

  • Experience of Automation tools - UFT, RFT, CA LISA and RIT
