Summary:

Chenega Professional & Technical Services (CPTS) is seeking a Business Architect for a Strategic Modernization Planning Support effort to mature an agency’s Enterprise Architecture (EA) program. Phases will maintain data standardization, sharing and reuse resulting in a firm foundation for an agile Architecture within a Cloud-hybrid Infrastructure environment and incorporation of innovative technologies with modernization techniques.

The Business Architect will be focused on developing the strategy, and corresponding business architecture to support this strategy, to enable an enterprise transformation. The BA will also play a key leadership role in structuring the Business Capabilities, Business Processes, and will work closely with the business/program areas in collecting business information. This individual will align strategic goals and objectives with decisions regarding products and services, organization, capabilities, and key business and IT initiatives. The primary focus of the BA will be business motivations, business operations, and business analysis that link the aspects of the enterprise together. The Business Architect will develop an integrated view of the enterprise using a repeatable approach, cohesive framework, and available Federal and industry standard techniques.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a broad, enterprise-wide view of the business and varying degrees of appreciation for strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance.

  • Recognize structural issues and functional interdependencies and cross-silo redundancies.

  • Apply architectural principles to business solutions.

  • Assimilate and correlate disconnected documentation and drawings and articulate their collective relevance to the organization and to high-priority business issues.

  • Use model-based representations that can be adjusted as required to collect, aggregate or disaggregate complex and conflicting information about the business.

  • Visualize and create high-level models that can be used in future analysis to extend and mature the business architecture.

  • Communicate exceptionally and appropriately at all levels of the organization; this includes written and verbal communications as well as visualizations.

  • Act as a liaison conveying information needs of the business to IT and data constraints to the business; applying equal conveyance regarding business strategy and IT strategy, business processes and work flow automation, business initiatives and IT initiatives, and benefit realization and service delivery.

  • Coordinate and lead on relevant business architecture governance activities and coordinate with all other types of architects (investment, solutions, data/information, security, technology, and cloud).

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business or technology-related field.

  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with at least 5 years of business architecture experience.

  • Possess a Public Trust clearance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding and practice of applying an EA frameworks, including FEAF, and DoDAF.

  • Work effectively as an individual contributor and team player at all levels of an organization with the ability to influence others to move toward consensus.

  • Strong oral and written communication abilities, with strong conceptual and systems-thinking abilities and problem-solving skills.

  • High level of professionalism, diplomacy, and patience working with many key stakeholders.

  • Ability to multitask efficiently and effectively.

  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.   • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.

  • During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
