Data Scientist , Client Experience / Research & Insights, Deloitte Services LLP.

We are looking for someone who has a unique blend of thoughtful, data driven curiosity and pragmatism. If you want to both design and deploy impactful data driven research to a global audience then we want you to pursue your research with us. Candidates will need to demonstrate strong creativity in identifying non-traditional data sources as well as the rigorous application of leading data science techniques.

The Data Scientist will play a key role developing analytically-driven research products aimed at changing national perspectives on major business issues. Candidates will be responsible for the end-to-end research process including helping with topic selection, research execution, presenting findings internally and externally, and co-authoring public facing research elements. Strong candidates will be simultaneously thorough and creative in their research approaches, comfortable with public speaking, and able to both deliver and receive candid feedback.

Prior work from this team has been cited in Congressional testimony, won an international Webby at https://www.webbyawards.com/winners/2017/websites/general-website/government-civil-innovation/data-usa/ award, been featured in Tier 1 Media outlets (WSJ, USA Today, etc.), and has supported millions in sales.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Executes end-to-end research processes, from generating unique research topics to conducting rigorous analysis.Ensures research reports are created using leading methodologies (text analytics, network analysis, econometrics, etc.)

  • Works on a technical team which simultaneously supports research requests covering multiple industry areas

  • Balances the demands of multiple long-term projects simultaneously

  • Presents on research findings to senior leadership both within and outside of Deloitte

This position will play a key role in developing novel research into critical phenomena affecting US businesses and the US government. This position may require occasional travel (a few times a year at most) to attend offsite meetings, conferences, and/or training sessions.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Experience with Python and/or R. (Candidates with a strong R background must have a desire to learn Python upon joining the team.)

  • Prior experience that has involved the use of at leasttwoof the techniques below:

  1. Text Analytics

  2. Machine Learning (random forests, clustering, etc.)

  3. Econometrics/Statistical Modeling

  4. Neural Networks (CNN, LTSM, etc.)

  5. Network Analysis

  6. Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

  7. Interactive Visuals: D3.JS or other similar browser-friendly data visualization library

  • Ability to clearly communicate deeply technical concepts to non-technical audiences

  • Masters or PhD in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or other highly quantitative field is strongly preferred. Candidates with less educational attainment but with demonstrated quantitative creativity are preferred over candidates that lack creativity but have credentials.

Desired qualifications and requirements:

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision as well as in a collaborative team environment

  • Prior publication of work (please provide links if possible)

  • Experience managing data-driven research, from project ideation to deployment

  • Deep expertise in Python

  • Working knowledge of SQL

  • Familiarity with data visualization software, such as Tableau, Power BI, etc.
