Verizon Manager of Spectrum Strategy for Public Policy in Washington, District Of Columbia

What you’ll be doing...

The Manager of Spectrum Strategy for Public Policy will be innovative, influential and results-focused to deliver Verizon’s corporate strategy with all spectrum related activities. These policies are crucial and enable Verizon to grow revenue and provide a superior customer experience in a cost-effective way by expanding our available spectrum deployment strategies.

This position will report to the HQ Network Planning group which is responsible for establishing the framework for all wireless activities including strategic planning, hardware and software roadmaps, capacity planning, and future technologies. This position requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, decision-making, and communication skills. It requires the ability to navigate cross-functionally and establish strong collaborative partnerships at an executive level. This position also requires a technical understanding of all spectrum bands, the key players, and the political environment that could surround the spectrum band. Policy and standards experience would be extremely helpful to the position.

In this role, you will partner with key stakeholders to define and execute the strategic spectrum choices, budgeting processes, and prioritization parameters related to spectrum deployments. You will serve as the key conduit between the DC Regulatory office and Network Planning to return optimal strategic value to Verizon on the most efficient cost basis. You will be responsible for creating and managing the processes, governance and compliance for new spectrum bands, the development and introduction of new technologies and spectrum, and the data-driven model for prioritizing spectrum bands based on a strategic business case. You will also be responsible for ensuring that Verizon maintains its position as the industry leader in spectrum policy and connectivity technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Partnering with Network Planning and stakeholder organizations to define strategic approach to spectrum, ensuring alignment across all of Verizon’s business units

  • Establishing governance and compliance model to ensure robust communication of approved spectrum policy across all internal stakeholder groups

  • Leveragingknowledge of Verizon priorities to identify strategic opportunities in the spectrum space and ensure the delivery of our strategies to DC Regulatory and the FCC

  • Partnering with stakeholder organizations to define and align on spectrum priorities and pipeline

  • Maximizingbusiness outcomes

  • Representing Verizon at an executive level to industry groups

  • ProvidingNetwork teams with strategic guidance and direction regarding spectrum priorities

  • Collaboratingwith DC regulatory groups to meet capacity goals and maximize spectrum investments

  • Leveragingtechnology to streamline program management/oversight

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • Seven or moreyears of telecom industry experience with a focus on spectrum strategy and/or policy

  • Experience leading complex projects requiring a high-level of stakeholder engagement across multiple organizations

  • Experience with large scale strategy development

  • Experience in RF network architecture, Engineering, and Operations

  • Detail-oriented, results driven, strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to act with relative independence in area of responsibility

  • Ability to translate complex ideas and express them in concise, simple to understand ways

  • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams to meet business objectives

  • Demonstrated ability to lead strategically and across broad areas of a business

  • Ability to own issues/risk decisions and manage on an ongoing basis

  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills with the ability to gather and organize data and develop recommendations.

  • Strong people leader with an ability to influence, grow and develop a team
