IBM Program Manager - Disaster Resiliency in Washington, District Of Columbia

To continue building upon our success to-date, we're looking for a Program Manager to join our team.

In this role, you will help grow IBM’s reputation and social impact. You will bring strong project management and organizational skills, a capacity to understand current technology (cloud, AI, blockchain, etc.), and relationship acumen to help the team execute multiple projects successfully. You will contribute to our knowledge base and you will ensure that information across multiple projects is accurate, organized, and readily available to help inform others. You'll also help execute a strong employee engagement strategy, tuned to the needs of different disasters or projects.

  • Manage and coordinate technology projects in an agile, user-centric way to help create repeatable offerings that can be delivered at scale in support of disaster response and resiliency.

  • Create and/or execute detailed plans for disaster focused initiatives that often leverage other established programs, working collaboratively and accurately; organize information, document solutions, coordinate team activities, track and record results.

  • When disasters occur, execution certain processes to ensure effective communication and coordination among our collaborators, and continuously improve processes.

  • Support grantmaking by creating or collecting documentation with accurate details, preparing contracts and grant agreements, obtaining approvals, processing grants, and otherwise ensuring compliance with IBM procedures.

  • Monitor and/or perform reconciliation and reporting on monthly financials and forecasts.

  • Collect data that contribute to measurement of our impact.

  • Promote employee engagement by growing the Disaster Volunteer Corps within IBM Volunteers. Lend assistance to territory managers as they engage employees locally around the topic of disaster.

  • Help capture and organize relevant information to contribute to compelling internal and external communications to drive earned media.

  • Use and promote use of effective communication and organizational tools within the team (for example, Webex, Box, Slack, and Airtable) and to maintain our information within the larger CSR and Communications functions.

This role requires the ability to work in the U.S. without current or future need for IBM sponsorship.

Required Professional and Technical Expertise

  • At least 1 year of project management and/or program management experience

  • Working knowledge of project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Project Libre) and other business applications (e.g. Excel, Slack)

  • Proficient in using a range of tools, data, and digital techniques to identify, understand and resolve various job-related issues

Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise

  • PMI certification (or equivalent)

  • At least 1 year of experience in client solutioning and/or client-facing engagements

  • At least 1 year of experience in software or application development/coding

  • At least 1 year of experience in any of the following: First responder, humanitarian response or crisis service delivery, disaster volunteering, disaster management, emergency/incident management, resiliency planning.
