Verizon Staff Counsel in Washington, District Of Columbia
What you’ll be doing...
This position will provide support on major legal initiatives, such as supporting the development of new products and features and taking them to market. The position requires an experienced and highly motivated attorney who has an eye for detail, can adroitly manage multiple competing priorities in a very fast-paced and dynamic environment, and has significant legal experience supporting the development and launch of new products and services. This position will report to VZ Connect’s Associate General Counsel and will be based in Washington, DC.
Provide legal guidance and support in the development and launch of new products and services, including the identification of all relevant legal issues.
Participate in and counsel clients through all stages of the product lifecycle (design, review, approve, go-to-market and wind down).
Ensure compliance of products with all laws, regulations and contractual commitments.
Draft and review product terms of service, disclosures, FAQs, technical requirements, customer care and training scripts, and product collateral
Collaborate effectively with colleagues across the company to drive product development and commercial launches, and serve as liaison to provide product information to other legal functions (such as Public Policy, Contracts, etc.).
Proactively identify and mitigate any areas of risk.
Advise Verizon Connect leaders on legal matters impacting the business.
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
JD and six or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience with a major law firm and/or in-house.
Licenses: Active and in good standing of at least one state bar.
Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel) and GSuite.
Even better if you have:
JD degree from a top tier law school with strong academic performance.
Experience in the telecommunications or wireless technology industry.
Exceptionally strong written and oral communication skills.
Proven ability to professionally manage time, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and process a high volume of work in a timely and accurate manner with a high attention to detail.
Proven ability to work independently and autonomously, as well as part of a team.
Proven ability to spot problems and develop and lead implementation of appropriate solutions.
Ability to interact comfortably with all levels of personnel and enforce legal requirements without alienating clients.
Demonstrated ability to handle extremely sensitive and confidential information.
