The Op Ex Manager will plan, coordinate, and direct Operational Excellence programs designed to ensure the short term and long-term success of strategic business initiatives and related goals. This person will also support programs that enhance the maturity of the Eaton Business System; lead the Manufacturing Engineering, Continuous Improvement/Lean activities, Cost Out program, Controls engineering and capital projects for the plant. The incumbent will drive process improvements through the understanding and use of Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma (ELSS), Continuous Improvement Framework (CIF) and change management framework. The Op Ex Manager will also guide, direct, maintain and monitor all activities associated with the successful application of Eaton’s Business Excellence processes (EBE). This person will also manage department budgets and the site capital budget process; lead the planning and deployment of the EBS pull process and ensure actions items are created, aligned and deployed to attain world class status on the HI-5 Metrics; and deploy a comprehensive employee engagement program that constitutes learning, deployment and reward and recognition.
Recommends, develops, and manages plans to improve production and office processes and results, to include ELSS, Eaton Quality System (EQS), Continuous Improvement framework (CIF), Eaton Business System (EBS) and other tools.
Owns the cost out and capital processes for the plant and monitors financial impact resulting from cost reduction programs and reports as expected.
In conjunction with the plant manager drives the annual goal setting process, Metric review process and Continuous improvement council.
Works with stakeholders across Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Finance and Operations to ensure end-to-end operational goals are met / exceeded.
Supports the MESH aspects of the facilities operating systems (electrical distribution, process cooling water, compressed air generation and distribution, steam generation and distribution, HVAC, fire protection, security system, and facility lighting) and coordinates facilities activities associated with proper operation and maintenance of those systems.
Provides as appropriate MESH oversight for outside contractor work related to the maintenance and upgrade of facility operating systems.
Coordinates site capital budget process, leads capital budget planning activities and monitors installation of all MESH related capital equipment projects.
Directs subordinates & contractors engaged in the manufacture of repair parts and modifications to existing facility systems and equipment.
Leads plant Eaton Business Excellence Assessment (EBEA) and Operations Assessment (OpA).
Benchmarks and shares best practices with other Eaton locations.
Participates on corporate ELSS council functions.
Creates a framework for employee engagement and participation in CI activities.
Drives a learning agenda and framework for the Front Line leader, Engineers and Team Leads around Continuous Improvement
A bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution is required.
A minimum of 7 years’ experience in manufacturing methodologies
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in supervision
1 year minimum experience in continuous improvement methodologies
Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.
