This position reports directly to the Operations Superintendent.
What you will do:
Oversee the Maintenance Operations at Nutrien-Weeping Water
Ensure Maintenance goals are achieved consistent with safety, quality, cost and environmental standards
Maintain storeroom and inventory levels as to ensure that plant will not be setback due to insufficient stock of parts or supplies
Maintain plant on daily basis thru work orders and preventative maintenance, this includes Production, Shipping, Office and Maintenance
Work at keeping Maintenance costs down to a minimum level and stay within the budget while maintaining plant operations
Responsible for the safety of all employees/contractors and seeing that they adhere to all standard operating procedures
Issue the proper permits for all jobs performed (Hot Work/Line Break/Lock Tag and Try/High-Voltage/Energized Electrical /Confined Space/General)
Responsible for meeting BAPP Observation and Coaching quotas monthly
Improve your Leadership 360 on yearly basis
Perform KPAs (Key Procedure Audits)
Attend staff meetings and yearly training sessions
Responsible for keeping the Maintenance Dept. in compliance (environmentally)
Develop employees so they are prepared/equipped to assume additional responsibilities when you need to be away
Must be available for call-outs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Coordinate maintenance work with Production Supervisor(s)
Communicate and keep the Operations Superintendent informed of issues that arise within the plant
Oversee projects and jobs to ensure that they are done correctly and in a professional manner
Maintain timesheets and ensure that these are submitted timely for payroll processing
Maintain all shipping and receiving documents coming in and disperse to Purchasing
Keep Shop/East Yard/job sites clean and free from trash and debris
Hold Toolbox meetings each day before start of workday
Determine labor hours and cost estimates on projects or jobs when called upon
Order parts and supplies by completing department requisitions with essential information such as: code numbers and complete description and quantities of parts or supplies and location in which they are to be used
Schedule team members on specific projects—turnarounds, etc.
Collect all Mobile Inspection Sheets daily and file in monthly files for one full year before discarding
Ensure the plant is equipped to safely operate in all weather conditions
Perform weekly inspections (Oil Shed/Respirator/Fire)
Perform monthly inspections (Hoist/chain and cable chokers)
Perform annual inspections (Boiler/Air Tanks/Air Hoses/Steam Hoses)
Support the implementation and maintenance of the Animal Food Quality and Safety Management System, as needed
Ensure an environment is fostered wherein employees are responsible/accountable for reporting Quality and Animal Food Safety issues/concerns, when detected, to personnel with authority
Ensure all employees’ training is documented and employees are trained on Animal Food Quality and Safety requirements and demonstrate required competencies for job tasks
Participate in Animal Food Quality and Safety Management Review meetings
Perform other duties as assigned in Production, Maintenance, and Administration
What you will bring:
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent
Experience as a lead role
Greater than five years’ work experience in a related field
Two-year degree in related field is preferred
Previous supervisory experience is preferred
Computer skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, is preferred
Must be flexible and willing to adapt to change if the plant goes down or is experiencing issues
Ability to assist or take on other assigned duties based on business needs
Ability to adapt to an evolving work environment and be flexible in getting the job done
Ability to work well under pressure
Ability to effectively communicate and give direction when needed
Ability to travel approx. 1-2 weeks per year; may vary slightly, depending on business needs
