This is an exciting opportunity based in Northamptonshire for a Marine Sales Manager.

Cummins has a strong marine heritage dating back to the Company’s start in 1919. Today, Cummins continues its legacy of providing reliable, durable diesels to the marine market with a broad range of power 5.9 to 95 liters for commercial, government and recreational applications.

The product set will include:

  • Propulsion Engines

  • Auxiliary Engines

  • Generators Sets

  • Diesel Electric

Your impact will be seen in these and other ways:

  • You will develop new and existing customer relationships in the field of commercial marine, in order to maximise the sales of Cummins products and services.

  • You will take full ownership of and accountability for sales of marineengine productspower solutions across Northern England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

  • Leveraging Cummins’ excellent market profile and existing customer base, you will identify, develop and close new business opportunities with shipyard customers.

  • Lead generation and prospecting, e.g. by attendance at trade fairs and conferences, following up on warm leads and intelligence provided by Marketing.

  • Formulation of customer-contact / sales-call plans to ensure territory coverage and prospect contact is approached methodically and effectively.

  • Influencing of key decision-makers and strive to achieve win-win outcomes and long-term commercial relationships.

Qualifications

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Focus On Customer Needs - Able to leverage network of customer contacts to attain customer specific information that will provide useful in making informed business decisions and increase understanding of customer needs.

  • Account Planning - Is able to develop strategies to grow business, formulate marketing plans, identify support needs and measure progress. Understands what strategies need to be put in place to strengthen customer relationships

  • Sales Calls - Able to formulate sales call plans, conduct calls according to plans, gather information and negotiate terms of sale. Able to coach others.

  • Manage Customer Relationships - Manages customer interactions and relationships to maximize sales opportunities. Utilizes appointment and customer contact management software. Able to coach others to develop effective contact management habits. Consistently demonstrates ability to establish rapport, meet commitments, and develop effective working relationships with customers.

  • Sales Negotiations - Able to identify negotiating tactics used by customers and how to manage them. Familiar with Customer Market Profitability tools that can be utilized during negotiations. Can recognize the balance of power within a negotiation and has the skills to alter that balance. Drives toward collaborative relationships (i.e. win/win relationships).

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

  • Mechanical Engineering degree, or equivalent qualification in a technical discipline.

  • Alternatively, a sales or marketing-related degree or professional qualification allied to experience in a technical sales role (ideally within the Marine industry).

Compensation and Benefits

  • £33,200 - £45,000
