Position Summary

Responsible to bake a wide variety of bakery items from scratch in a consistent and efficient manner. Accountable for availability, quality and freshness of bakery products. Responsible for packaging, pricing and merchandising baked goods, and maintaining a clean work area.

Job Experience

. Prior experience in baking or commercial cooking helpful.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties

Responsible to bake a wide variety of bakery items from scratch in a consistent and efficient manner. Ensure all bakery items are prepared as per portion guidelines and adhere to department recipe standards.

Ensure product availability, quality, portion control, freshness and presentation by following production process and techniques to help maximize effective production of scratch bakery products and minimize waste.

Prepare products for sale by wrapping, weighing, slicing and pricing in accordance with department specifications.

Follow stock rotation guidelines to assure that distressed and close dated products are removed from the sales floor at the appropriate time to maximize product freshness and quality for customers.

Assure the bakery department inventory is maintained at the appropriate level by restocking products as needed to assure adequate count of merchandise and supplies are available to avoid loss of sales from product shortages.

Assist to maintain product pricing, signage and coding on the sales floor.

Assist to maximize product sales by offering product information and providing selling suggestions to customers.

Maintain sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils within work area.

Knowledge, Skills Abilities

Ability to follow written (recipes) or verbal instruction in adherence to food preparation specifications. Ability to read weight/label scale (numbers). Must be able to use cooking utensils and equipment (i.e., knives, stoves, etc.) to prepare food products. Ability to work in a fast paced food production environment. Knowledge of sanitation and food handling procedures helpful.

May be required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally. The associate is frequently required to sit/stand/walk. May be required to travel. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is subject to a typical food production environment (varied temperatures; frequent refrigerated/cold environment) and is rarely exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee will be exposed to refrigerated/freezer coolers on a frequent basis. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

Other Retail Equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, cardboard baler, sanitation and cleaning supplies, etc.)
