Verizon Equipment Engineer in West Nyack, New York
What you’ll be doing...
The Equipment Engineer is responsible for engineering of ODAS and Hub projects. This position requires the individual to manage technology and capital to meet network growth needs on time and within budget. Must ensure compliance with all Verizon Wireless standards and practices. Must provide complete equipment specifications for Network projects as defined by network deployment plans. Engineering plan should cover cell hardware, transmission equipment, power equipment, batteries, cables, floor space planning, HVAC, and miscellaneous hardware.
Efficiently manage the budget as it relates to equipment purchasing. Processing orders and invoices in a timely manner.
Analyzing work orders and coordinate with equipment vendors, facilities engineering and radio engineering groups to assure that equipment is configured to meet network requirements.
Designing, specifying, and documenting special equipment configurations when required by site-specific construction situations.
Work closely with all engineering groups in the Network team including RF Design, Traffic, Real Estate, Construction, Operations, and System Performance.
Effectively manage vendors and consultants.
Working with vendors to obtain quotes, negotiate pricing, and ensure their products and services meet Verizon Wireless’ requirements.
Managing outside vendors and contractors to effectively meet shipping and installation commitments. Request authorization for funds and purchase orders using the PeopleSoft Purchasing system and manage procurement and inventory activities with the CATS system and supplemental spread sheets.
Ensuring departmental compliance with company procurement and equipment installation policies.
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of work experience.
Cellular or telecommunication industry experience.
Knowledge of databases, Microsoft Office applications, web based application, and software tool packages.
Knowledge of cell RF, electrical and mechanical design, including equipment configurations.
Strong attention to detail.
Valid Driver's License.
Even better if you have:
Three or more years of relevant work experience in cellular or telecommunications.
Self-motivation, show initiative, and ability to work independently.
Highly productive and detail oriented.
Excellent team and communications skills.
