With an extensive range of facilities, our Engineers have opportunities to interact across diverse groups including Cogeneration, Boiler Operations, Chiller Plant Operations, Water Treatment, Water Utilities, Automation, Capital Projects, Maintenance, Environment, and Safety.

At our Company's campus in West Point, Pennsylvania, we have an Associate Specialist, Engineering position available on our Utility & Energy Operations team. The research and manufacturing facility is located in Montgomery County, about 20 miles outside of Philadelphia. The site is conveniently located near regional rail lines with service from Philadelphia.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to apply their enthusiasm and technical skills as a member of a multidisciplinary team supporting utility operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing electrical engineering support to Utility & Energy Operations (UEO) at the West Point site.

  • Identifies, initiates, and manages through completion, projects to improve electrical reliability throughout the West Point Site.

  • Responsible for maintaining the requirements necessary for Title V compliance of 60+ Standby Generators.

  • Acts as a subject matter expert of the National Electrical Code and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 110 related to standby and life-safety generators.

  • Supports department operational, compliance, profit and capital planning efforts and maintains documentation and reporting for ongoing budget/performance/compliance activities.

  • Works with minimum supervision and exercises independent judgment in the daily performance of their duties.

  • Provides technical electrical support for UEO operations throughout the West Point site.

  • Makes improvements to the existing electrical infrastructure and provides technical expertise for reliability improvements.

  • Supports initiatives to improve site energy efficiency Aids in troubleshooting electrical problems and responding to site electrical disturbances.

  • May be required to respond to electrical emergencies during the off hours.

  • Gain overall familiarity with National Electrical Code, NFPA 110 Life Safety Code as they relate to standby and life safety generators..

  • Document and maintain compliance for all site propane tanks.

  • Initiate Management of Change forms (MOC) to document relevant changes and maintain compliance.

  • Write and submit Contract Out Requests (C.O.R.) forms for necessary contractor work.

  • Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and preventive/corrective action development.

Manage Maintenance Repair and Operations (MRO) for fleet of generators, vendor coordination, and coordinate shutdowns as necessary with primary responsibility for:

  • Ensuring generator compliance with Title V air permit requirements.

  • Maintaining the emergency generator database.

  • Conducting monthly fuel tank inspections and record keeping.

  • Track Lubricating Oil test analysis and expeditiously handling unsatisfactory results.

  • Track Mobile Generator locations and schedule required movement.

  • Record and reconcile generator monthly run hours between the West Point Monitoring System (WPMS) report and the non-resettable generator run clock.

  • Keep track of monthly and yearly service dates and scheduled preventive maintenance (PM’s).

  • Schedule maintenance work that is not covered by the annual service agreement.

  • Schedule and monitor required emissions testing of generators.

  • Maintain accurate records of generator run time, fuel usage and kWh generation for all generators to support annual government reporting.

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Excellent academic record

  • Strong organization skills

  • Strong problem solving skills and a hands-on approach to problem solving

  • Computer skills using MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point etc.) and operation of other peripheral devices

  • Documented experience as a strong performer

  • Time Management - Ability to handle and prioritize a large number of simultaneous assignments

  • Attention to detail and deadlines

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ethics..

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Prior relevant work, co-op, or internship experience

  • Experience using analytical modeling/planning tools including statistical, analytical tools (Regressions) and MatLab.

  • Lean, Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification or equal experience in application

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.

  • Experience with financial and budget tasks
