Merck Senior Specialist, Biological Critical Reagents Logistics in West Point, Pennsylvania

Job Description

Our Supply Chain team ensures inventory is consistently available to meet customer demand. We coordinate all aspects of supply through supply planning, sourcing, making, inventory management, packaging and delivery. We partner across the Marketing, Finance and Manufacturing organizations to build a robust demand and supply plan and ensure we get products to the right customer, at the place, at the right time.

Our Supply Chain team ensures BCR (Biological Critical Reagents) gets to each customer on time and in full. We coordinate all aspects of logistics from order placement to final delivery. We partner across quality, shipping and manufacturing organizations to build a robust shipping pipeline to ensure we get products to the right customer, at the right place, at the right time. The Senior Logistics Specialist fills a key role in the BCR organization and is accountable for leading Logistics personnel located in the US.

Key Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Ownership of Controlled Temperature Unit’s at West Point and North Wales 4 BCR hubs

  • Managing the shipment of BCR’s from order receipt to order fulfillment

  • People management of shippers and inventory manager

  • Running a Logistics Tier Meeting for the West Point and North Wales 4 BCR hubs

  • Pulling all logistics metrics on a weekly and monthly basis for both sites

  • Being the point person on all Logistics related QN’s for both WP and NW4

  • Authoring change controls for logistics related changes (equipment, process, procedure)

  • Lead continuous improvement activities as related to shipping and logistics

  • Interface with WP site shipping department

  • Maintain internal and external shipping tracker

  • Become a super user in the GLIMS shipping and inventory management modules

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • At least a Bachelor's Degree in engineering, science, supply chain, or similar areas of study.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Passion for continuous improvement and Logistics

  • At least 3 years of quality, manufacturing or logistics experience

  • Regularly evaluate employee performance, hold employee development discussions and conduct year-end performance reviews.

  • Ability and knowledge to work in a GMP environment

  • Drive best practice sharing and continuous improvements across the BCR Hubs

  • Proficient use of MS Office, particularly a high-level use of Excel

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong ability to quickly convert data into actionable information

  • Ability to articulate complex issues and scenarios in a clear and concise manner to varied stakeholders.

  • Capability to work well in a cross-cultural and cross-functional business setting

  • Ability to handle and manage multiple priorities within day-to-day business

  • Ability to show resilience in a dynamic and continuously changing corporate environment

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Manufacturing / Operations experience

  • Experience with SAP or similar platforms
