Wholesale Banking provides financial solutions to businesses across the United States and globally. Our nine major business lines include Business Banking, Middle Market Banking, Government and Institutional Banking, Corporate Banking, Commercial Real Estate, Financial Institutions Group, Wells Fargo Commercial Capital, Wells Fargo Securities, and the Investment Portfolio. We also have groups in credit risk, group risk, finance, marketing, human relations, and the Wholesale Chief Operating Office that support our businesses.

Wholesale Loan Services (WLS) is seeking 2 experienced professionals to manage Tax Reporting Quality Control Reviews, support annual tax reporting analysis, lead/implement ongoing tax law changes and tax initiatives, and to ensure compliance with Global Tax Information Reporting (GTIR) Policy and IRS requirements. This position will report to the Tax Control Officer and will develop and maintain strong relationships with Corporate and Wholesale Tax Teams as well as Loan Center Leadership, Legal and other Line of Business Tax Control Officers.

Key Responsibilities include the following:

  • Monthly Tax Reporting Quality Control (QC) Reviews: Manage receipt of monthly transactional files. Reconcile withholding amounts sent to Wells Fargo Securities (WFS) and remitted to IRS. Facilitate, perform, and report issues detected. Work with line of business and Wholesale Business Solutions (WBS) to remediate issues.

  • Annual Tax Reporting: Partner with Wholesale Business Solutions (WBS), Wells Fargo Securities (WFS) & Line of Business to analyze reporting data. Ensure reporting and data integrity issues are resolved.

  • Quarterly KPI/KRI Reporting: Gather and report Tax KPIs/KRIs

  • Annual SLAs: Create/update Tax Withholding/Reporting SLAs. Monitor service levels to ensure timely performance.

  • Quarterly Tax Tracker: Provide quarterly updates to Wholesale Tax on LOB implementation of IRS Changes monitored and reported via “Tax Tracker”

  • Coordinate updates to Line of Business Tax procedures

  • Tax Controls: Work with LOB teams, Wells Fargo Securities, and Wholesale Banking Solutions to ensure compliance with tax form collection, onboarding, withholding and reporting processes. Review controls and make suggestions for changes/improvements to enhance the existing tax controls.

  • Manage/support ad hoc tax related projects. Ensure IRS Tax law changes are implemented.

  • SHRP Issues: Partner with Tax Compliance Officer, Line of Business, and Wholesale Technology to ensure Tax SHRP issues are remediated timely.

  • Payment Matrix: Assist with implementation and Annual review of Payment Matrix: Partner with Line of Business, Wholesale Business Solutions (WBS) and Wholesale Tax to review WLS/CRELS payment matrices and update annually. Partner with Wholesale Tax Program and ensure gap closure for tax risk reduction program

  • Audits/Compliance Testing: Support/coordinate tax examinations of the business unit conducted by external parties. Assist with management responses and corrective action plans for audit issues.

  • Global Tax Information Reporting (GTIR) Policy: Work with Tax Compliance Officr and Line of Business to ensure compliance with GTIR Policy.

  • Identify, assess and mitigate tax related risk that arises from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems or external events while maintaining a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency. Assist with existing tax risk-based programs impacting Wholesale Loan Services and develop, implement and monitor new tax risk-based programs/initiatives.

  • Research and respond to tax inquiries, as requested.

  • Serve as tax compliance subject matter expert on tax initiatives, including systems enhancements, changes in procedures and other items, as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ year of experience in one or a combination of the following: business support, project management, implementation, business operations or strategic planning in financial services

Desired Qualifications:

  • Commercial credit experience

  • Exposure to Wells Fargo AFS (Automated Financial Systems)

  • Exposure to Wells Fargo Loan IQ system

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
