Wholesale Banking provides financial solutions to businesses across the United States and globally. Our nine major business lines include Business Banking, Middle Market Banking, Government and Institutional Banking, Corporate Banking, Commercial Real Estate, Financial Institutions Group, Wells Fargo Commercial Capital, Wells Fargo Securities, and the Investment Portfolio. We also have groups in credit risk, group risk, finance, marketing, human relations, and the Wholesale Chief Operating Office that support our businesses.

Wholesale Loan Services (WLS) is a group with Wholesale Banking that provides operational loan administration related support for the Wholesale Lines of Businesses.

WLS has an open position that is primarily responsible for Operational Risk oversight related to Corporate and Wholesale policies. This position will interact with WLS functional teams, Wholesale Operational Risk and Compliance (WORC), and other Line Of Business Risk Partners to provide operational risk expertise related to Policy and Major Requirements (MRs) accepted by WLS in the risk system of record (SHRP).

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Developing, implementing and monitoring a risk-based program to identify, assess and mitigate any operational risk that arises from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems or external events, while maintaining a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency.

  • Provide operational risk oversight inclusive but not limited to Business continuity, Complaints, Digital properties, Financial crimes (Fraud), Internal losses, Information security, Payments risk, Privacy, Records management, Sales Practices, and third party service providers

  • Manages and/or coordinates examinations of the business unit conducted by internal and external parties

  • Assist with management responses and corrective action plans for audit issues

  • Track issues in SHRP to ensure timely completion

  • Provide operational risk expertise and consulting for projects and LOB initiatives. (i.e.: End User Computing, Complaints, Resolution Planning)

  • Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, systems and internal controls; analyze business and/or system changes to determine impact, identify and assess operational risk issues

  • Review policies, determine WLS applicability and coordinate process and procedure changes. Create procedures for WLS to ensure compliance with Enterprise policy. Partner with the WLS Learning & Development team to create Policy related training.

  • Work with Wholesale Loan Services functional teams to execute required operational risk testing (i.e.: Risk Assurance)

  • Document controls, control dependencies, and identify control/procedural gaps

  • Report findings and provide recommendations to WLS Management. Prepare and facilitate Operational Risk presentations.

  • Provide operational risk expertise and potential solutions to identified gaps and associated risks to the WLS functional teams

  • Provides compliance risk expertise and consulting for projects and initiatives with moderate to high risk to identify, assess and mitigate operational risk in all business activities

  • Monitor and update data in the RCSA/SHRP Issue Management System to ensure compliance with RCSA/Issue Management Standards

  • Follow-up with WLS Functional Teams to ensure Corrective Actions are completed timely

There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements./

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both

  • 2+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: additional compliance, additional operational risk management, IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience; or a BS/BA degree or higher in business or a related field

  • A BS/BA degree or higher

  • Exposure to Wells Fargo Loan IQ system

  • Knowledge and understanding of compliance or operational risk

  • Knowledge and understanding of loan administration or servicing commercial loan documentation

  • Leadership experience

  • Proven experience with conducting risk and process assessments

  • Experience with Wells Fargo Risk Management tools, including CRAS+, CICAT, and RCSA

  • Knowledge and understanding of Regulatory Risk and Compliance policies and programs

  • Knowledge and understanding of Financial Crimes Risk Management (FCRM)

  • Third party service provider risk experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of Business Process Risk Management (BPRM)

  • Knowledge and understanding of Wells Fargos Wholesale Loan Services (WLS) processes

  • Knowledge and understanding of Wells Fargos Commercial Real Estate (CRE) loan services processes

  • Quality control review experience

  • Quality assurance review experience

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
