Job Summary

  • Responsible for implementing and filing all rate and rating rule introductions or revisions to the Commercial Lines Manuals and filing new and revised policy forms, including following up with regulators until approved.

  • Analyzes rate and rating rule revisions and troubleshoots discrepancies, prepares rate/rule pages for the manuals and coordinates distribution of pages.

  • Maintains and updates a master implementation schedule and follows up as necessary with other stakeholders to ensure deadlines are met.

  • Analyzes existing procedures, and develops recommendations for improving refining procedures for rate revisions, filings and database updates.

  • Researches routine problems stemming from tool and system issues and works toward resolving such issues.

  • In addition to maintaining existing and archived manuals and rate history databases, also participates in special projects as requested by management.

    Essential Job Functions

  • Handles rate and form filings to completion which includes but is not limited to gathering data, drafting filings, reviewing filings of peers, working to resolve objections, researching past filings and resolving issues needing response.

  • In addition, if needed, triage objections by communicating with proper parties to resolve objections that are not in Filing and Implementation Team (FIT) scope.

  • Document progress of objections in master implementation schedule, and track filing of all correspondence, including updating rate change history and recording of process steps for auditing.

  • Partners with customers (Product Management, Actuarial, Research Design) to help understand their needs relating to rate rule filings and determine if any modifications to rates are required.

  • Works with various regulatory agencies (auditors, regulators) to clearly communicate rate revisions and address any concerns which may arise.

  • Troubleshoots program tools for Commercial Line manuals and tables that are uploaded to department and other applications/systems when problems occur.

  • Updates Visual Basic Macros as well as rating manual templates when revisions are required.

  • Use Visual Basic Macros or other tools to create solutions to meet deadlines.

  • Represents FIT when coordinating national revision rollouts of rates.

  • Advises on timetable for the order of filings and implementation, debriefs manager on progress, decides how many people resources are needed, and if necessary, sets up electronic filing template in regulator filing system (SERFF).

  • Also submits filings or delegates filings of team members to regulators and handles rate manual revisions to completion.

  • In addition to following project control instructions to process changes or to create new pages, incumbent is accountable for applying critical thinking in reviewing modifications, engaging communication with stakeholders on rate revisions and filing correspondence, and recording modification progress on tracker.

  • Also responsible for implementing rate manual revisions, ensuring close review of pages before posting by Product FIT analyst, and ensuring prior manuals are archived properly for later review by auditors or internal personnel.

    Physical Actions

    Required job duties are essentially sedentary work consisting of occasional walking, standing and lifting and/or carrying 10 lbs. maximum. Functional ability of seeing, hearing and speaking is required.

    Physical Environment

    Required job duties are normally performed in a climate controlled office environment.

    Education Requirements

    Bachelor's degree with one year of work experience required, OR Bachelor’s degree with 1 year Commercial Product or Actuarial preferred. AINS designation or successful completion of one CPCU course preferred.

    Experience Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of Word required with experience in grouping, formatting and indexing pages, as well as creating headings and table of contents.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel with experience in formulas, Lookup, filters, and pivot tables.

  • VBA codes required.

    Special Skill Requirement

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral required.

  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills required.

  • Proven ability to accurately enter data using Microsoft Excel or Access.
