Kaiser Permanente Senior Financial/Cost Analyst - Construction industry in Woodland Hills, California
National Facilities Services (NFS) manages the design, construction and maintenance of a significant portfolio of large and small-scale projects/buildings. The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for elements of financial controls for these projects associated with two separate Project Teams, which are both located in Riverside and Woodland Hills.
The position coordinates with multiple internal and external stakeholders, in support of the projects assigned to each project team. The position is responsible under the supervision of the Finance Manager to coordinate with the members of each project team on the financial lifecycle of the projects including capital planning, project setup, monthly project forecasting and risk analysis, project reporting, process improvement and coordination of capitalization criteria. Develop and implement project financial standards and procedures. Analyze and report project cost variances, maintain and report project cost forecast in accordance with work breakdown structure and provide progress reports. Provide project cost forecast input to Service Area capital planning process.
Financial management of complex portfolio of projects, including cash flow projections and risk assessment
Influences the development and execution of functional NFS processes, policies and long-term goals
Participates in development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and systems
Directs specific budgets and provides overall management and direction to the Project Financial/Cost Analyst function.
Oversees development and implementation of requirements for cost recording, reporting, and analyzing standards, programs, and reports, and performance monitoring and control functions on major projects.
Oversees performance monitoring and control functions.
Reviews recommendations for measurement systems, cost trend data and schedule impacts, and progress reports for presentation to Project Manager or senior management.
Presents ongoing executive summary and detail analyses to management for use in status updates and leadership decisions related to cost/ benefit decision making, strategic cost impact, and balancing of adjustments in project direction/resource concentration.
Resolve invoicing issues with vendors, contractors and professional services providers. Support negotiations as compliant to KP requirements.
Assume other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed.
- Minimum six (6) years of financial or project controls experience including two (2) years in architectural, design, contracting, and project management or construction environment.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or construction management discipline, OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
Understanding of the accounting for construction work in progress and the capitalization requirements of generally accepted accounting principles.
Strong analytical and systems skills to include proficiency in PC based applications (Excel and Access including advanced functions such as graphics, pivot tables, macros and database management.
Understanding of accounting for leases (specific to Facility, Clinical Technology or Real Estate operations).
Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Minimum two (2) years in a lead financial analysis and/or accounting role preferred.
Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or CPA preferred.
