American Water Field Maintenance Technician in Woodridge, Illinois

Primary Role

• Work with utility crews performing various water and sewer utility repairs, maintenance, and installations, with a high level of customer service/awareness. This includes working on main breaks, service laterals, sanitary sewer backups, and jet flushing sewers.

• Operate various heavy equipment and vehicles such as dump trucks, excavators, hydro-excavators, jackhammers, water pumps, sewer jet cleaning and extraction equipment.

• Effectively operate various equipment such as line locators, metal locators, pressure gauges, augers, portable pumps, and b-box keys.

• Maintain daily time card, recording hours spent to complete each task. Complete required paperwork and investigation forms. Information must be accurate, complete, detailed, and on time.

• Works with teams or alone to complete assigned projects on time.

• Perform b-box inspections, valve inspections for maintenance/exercising, fire hydrant flushing inspections, leak detection, and customer service functions when needed.

• Perform J.U.L.I.E. locates.

• Maintain and keep equipment in proper and safe operating condition.

• Willingness to perform any and all job-related functions, including working overtime when needed.

• Ability to effectively operate, adjust and repair b-box, hydrants and value boxes.

• Knowledge of, and ability to use, basic computer/field laptops and programs.

• Knowledge of sewer repair, rehab, replacement and maintenance preferred

Experience/Education

Experience:

Education:

• Qualified candidates must possess a high school diploma or the equivalent, the ability to perform mathematical calculations related to the job with accuracy, and the ability to communicate effectively with external and internal customers.

• Possession, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire, a CDL – class A license with air break endorsement.

• Tanker endorsement license preferred.
