Summary

The BMS WW Field Medical Excellence (WW FME) team plays a critical role in ensuring that healthcare providers are educated on the appropriate use of our medicines and have the information they need to improve outcomes for their patients. We develop strategies, tools, and guidance to empower Field Medical (FM) teams around the globe and ensure that they are aware, informed, engaged, and equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to perform their roles effectively and compliantly. The FMCS is a strategic extended team member of both US FMLT and MMT, bridging WW FM Excellence, Immunology & Fibrosis strategic planning and execution.

Key Accountabilities

  • Reports to WW Field Medical Communication Lead (FMCL), Immunology & Fibrosis within the WW FME team

  • Primary focus is US and Neurology& Gastroenterology; May lend support to WW projects with US applicability and/or other Indications as part of the Immunology & Fibrosis Porfolio.

  • Partners with the WW FMCL to assess key FM competencies and knowledge required to deliver the WW Medical plan objectives and ensure best-in-class stakeholder engagement for assigned assets/indications

  • Informs the development/update of the Neurology & Gastroenterology communication platform with valuable insights; Aligns with WW FMCL, US FM, and the broader Medical organization on the data-related nature of scientific exchange for healthcare provider interactions and Medical Communication Topics (MCTs); serves as liaison to US FM and Medical Strategic leads

  • Contributes to the US FM Plan, inclusive of adapting WW strategic inputs for market specific needs, to ensure alignment with US Medical Plan(s). Plan inputs and ensure pull-through of National therapeutic training strategy/plan, Medical Communication Topics (InterAct), Medical Insight topics/priorities (MEDsights), and FM study support plan including scope document management and pull through within InterAct)

  • Ensures collaboration of internal stakeholders across the Medical matrix to optimize and operationalize FM capability platforms to support educational activities, Medical insights collection, knowledge assessments, and data analysis

  • Partners with Medical Congress Strategy Lead, WW FMCL and US FML to ensure a unified presence at priority US congresses to support the medical strategies through contributions to FM data training (pre- & post-congress), coordination of congress coverage (eg, STAR briefs, Medical booth staffing), and coordination of Medical Insights review (analysis and reporting)

  • Provides valuable insights during strategic discussions on FM clinical trial support activities, facilitates tracking and prioritization of field efforts in data generation, and maintains FM study resource repository

  • Partners with the WW FMCL on the collaboration of internal stakeholders across the Medical matrix to optimize and operationalize FM capability platforms to support educational activities, Medical insights collection, knowledge assessments, and data analysis

Execution

  • Educates on BMS assets and studies to enable FM readiness, confidence and credibility for robust scientific exchange to achieve key milestones including data readouts, congress activities & launches; maintains FM on-boarding guides/curricula for assigned assets/indications

  • Delivers timely resources and leads training to enable informative scientific exchange with HCPs, internal/external partners, and accurately reflects the scientific data of the disease area/tumor type; distills scientific data on the disease area/TA and ensures accuracy within all internal training communications

  • Plans training evolution beyond the current Medical planning year and forecasts changes in curricula based on anticipated data releases, product lifecycle, and pipeline assets

  • Leads development of global disease/product training plans annually and adapted to brand lifecycle, competitive landscape, and business priorities; manages FME, TA training calendar, develops meeting agendas, and facilitates training delivery

  • Supplements WW plan with US National Training Annual Plan & Execution by leading efforts to develop and gain alignment for training topics, objectives, speakers, format, timing, and audience Partners with meeting/event planning team (US FMLT) on operations and logistics to execute training components including ongoing training, annual event, and role play scenarios/certification development

  • Develops, updates, and conducts clinical study training, as required

  • Collaborates with the WW Content team to gather existing foundational materials (as available) and develops new foundational training content (disease state and asset/indication), as needed

  • Leads congress planning and execution including FM pre-/post-congresses briefings/insight reports, executive summaries, and trainings

  • Leverages existing management tools and ensures US FM access of resources in MS Teams, SharePoint, Veeva Vault, MEDeXchange, esmart, FM activities, and HCP insights (MEDsights); manages content repositories (eg, Sharepoint, Veeva Vault, MEDeXchange) and coordinates content materials review/approval process

  • Serves as US Medical Insights point and active participant of US FIRe (Fast Insight Review) team, assists with meeting coordination and execution; aligns with US HOM team and FM “Pre-reviewers” to coordinate and manage US FIRe calls (align timing with WW FMCL/S for WW FIRe meeting); ensures pull through of insight strategy per FM plan (focused on market Key Insight details/priorities), develops/communicates US FIRe summary reports

  • Supports FMCL in partnership with Medical Leads, Business Insights & Analytics (BI&A) team and other contributors, analyzes and communicates Medical insights; develops Key Information Topics (KITS), leads Fast Insight Review (FIRe) team, summarizes and communicates insights to inform the Medical strategy; initiates and drives resulting actions

Communications & Value Demonstration

  • Partners WW FMCL, WW FM Operations, and Market Research to set quantitative and qualitative measures to demonstrate/communicate the value of FM initiatives and HCP satisfaction. Communicates value, metrics, and achievement of objectives to leadership (eg, Scorecards)

  • Aligns with WW standards for excellence to communicate the disease area, compounds/assets, outcomes, and the value to patients; shares best practices and ensures consistency of approach across Markets

  • Adapts WW Medical Communication Topics (MCTs) to US Market needs in alignment with US Medical Plan and approval from US FMLT

  • Drives appropriate and timely delivery of information to WW FM on new resources, Medical Insights, data updates, market events (e.g. launches), or other relevant topics for assigned TA

  • Analyzes and reports results of knowledge assessments and FM surveys to the Medical matrix team and to Leadership

  • Provides suggested content for US FM Newsletter

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Advanced Scientific/Medical Degree preferred (PhD, MD, or PharmD)

  • Medical/Scientific background from a previously held Field deployed and/or Field Management position in Pharma or Biotech company (2+ years advantageous)

  • Experience and proven knowledge in disease-state area: Immunology, Multiple Sclerosis and/or Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (UC, CD) (desired)

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence effectively across a matrixed, multicultural organization and manage Medical and Commercial activities

  • Ability to synthesize scientific data, communicate effectively, and demonstrate advanced presentation skills

  • Experience in developing Medical/Commercial strategy and/or objectives for a product portfolio

  • Understand regulatory policy & guidance for Medical communications in the industry

  • Demonstrated skills with tools and technologies used to communicate and train large Medical audiences (Live & Remote)

  • Able to travel domestically and/or internationally, up to 20%
