Job Summary

The Commissioning and Operations (C&O) Maintenance and Hoisting & Rigging Programs Manager reports to the Maintenance Manager. The C&O Maintenance and Hoisting & Rigging Programs Manager is responsible for managing the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Commissioning Maintenance, Work Control and Hoisting and Rigging Programs, including serving as the Requirements Area Manager (RAM) for these programs.

This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS

  • Attain and maintain qualification as a Requirement Area Manager (RAM), then serve as the RAM for C&O Maintenance, Work Control and Hoisting & Rigging Programs.
  • Maintaining expert knowledge in the maintenance, activity level work control, and hoisting and rigging requirements and their associated implementing documents for C&O activities.
  • Understanding the applicability of allocated requirements for C&O Maintenance, Work Control and Hoisting & Rigging programs.
  • Ensuring C&O Maintenance, Work Control and Hoisting & Rigging programs requirements are appropriately reviewed, allocated, sub-allocated, assigned, traced in the RMS, effectively implemented, and verified.
  • Developing implementing procedures for the C&O Maintenance, Work Control and Hoisting & Rigging programs.
  • Evaluating the adequacy of requirements implementation of the C&O Maintenance, Work Control and Hoisting & Rigging programs and through the assessment and oversight of performance of the processes that implement the program.
  • Identifying the scope of changes and impacts and apply Earned Value Management System tools to those changes, when applicable.
  • Participating in the development and delivery of training necessary for implementation of the C&O Maintenance, Work Control and Hoisting & Rigging programs.
  • Providing oversight of training, qualifications, effectiveness, and efficiency of the C&O Maintenance, Work Control and Hoisting & Rigging programs and their implementing processes.
  • Identifying and implementing actions to promote improvement, resolve issues, and correct deficiencies in the implementation of the C&O Maintenance, Work Control and Hoisting & Rigging programs.
  • Ensuring integrated safety management system elements and nuclear safety and quality culture elements applicable to the C&O Maintenance, Work Control and Hoisting & Rigging programs are clearly identified and effectively implemented within these programs’ documents and maintained effectively.
  • Ensuring credited elements of these Safety Management Programs are clearly identified in the documented safety analysis and protected.
  • Providing input and concurrence on Project activities in the scope of C&O Maintenance, Work Control and Hoisting & Rigging programs.
  • Interfacing with other program requirement area managers (RAMs) and subject matters experts (SMEs) to ensure interfacing references and dependencies are understood and maintained current.
  • Presenting the C&O Maintenance, Work Control and Hoisting & Rigging programs to others who have a need to understand the purpose, scope, and details of the processes managed in these programs. These presentations groups include: peers (RAMs/SMEs), management, external reviewers/assessors/auditors.
  • Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect self, others, and the environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

(EFNM) Exposed Field Non-Manual

Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.

Amentum has joined with Bechtel to create an LLC, known as the Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC) to construct, start-up and commission the world’s largest radioactive-waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in southeastern Washington state. The project will use vitrification technology to process and stabilize 53 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste currently stored at the Hanford Site which is a byproduct of plutonium-production during World War II and the Cold War era.

The project is the largest undertaking of its kind ever and one of DOE’s most technically challenging cleanup projects equivalent to building two nuclear power plants. Its construction site spans 65 acres and includes facilities for pretreatment, low-activity waste vitrification, and high-level waste vitrification, as well as an analytical laboratory.


Minimum Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or science or equivalent education or specific training in area of expertise.

Experience: Department of Energy, NRC, or Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program experience desired. Minimum of 8 years of experience in development, implementation and management of Department of Energy maintenance, work control, and hoisting and rigging programs. Demonstrated ability to incorporate requirements into project implementing documents and in maintaining these documents current with source requirements.

This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
