Job Summary

Nuclear Waste Partnership, an LLC of Amentum, is seeking candidates for a rewarding career opportunity to support the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) and be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste. We seek a Central Characterization Program (CCP) Deputy Project Manager in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

The successful candidate will Assist the CCP Project Manager at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in the following areas:

  • Ensuring CCP waste characterization at assigned locations comply with the WIPP Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC).
  • Ensuring the integration of work between CCP and TRU waste generators (host facilities) to achieve National TRU Program goals and objectives including schedules and budgets.
  • Providing direction to assigned personnel regarding execution of work scope.
  • Performing oversight (management assessments and observations) and developing and implementing corrective actions for deficiencies identified during TRU waste certification audits and internal management assessments.
  • Mentoring team members and providing opportunities for professional development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

NWP Exempt Salary Grade (33 – 36)


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science related field with nine (9) years of related experience, or
  • Associate’s degree with thirteen (13) years of related experience, or
  • High School Diploma or GED with seventeen (17) years of experience is required.
  • Five (5) years of experience at a DOE Nuclear Facility.
  • Two (2) years of experience implementing processes/procedures used by a program certified by Carlsbad Field Office (CBFO) to characterize, certify and ship TRU waste to WIPP.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” Clearance.
  • Due to the nature of the work, all candidates must be US Citizens.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in schedule development and cost estimates preferred.
  • Previous WIPP Project or CCP experience is a plus.
