What you’ll be doing...

You will be primarily responsible for assistance with the development and management of a proprietary project management information system (PMIS) online data reporting and repository tool. The position more mirrors the Functional Business Analyst (FBA) and will swivel chair between Verizon’s external customer and the assigned Verizon Project Manager and the database Development team. Performing in the role of a FBA you will be responsible for bridging the gap between IT and the Project Management (PM) team using data analytics to assess processes, determine requirements and deliver data-driven recommendations. In this role, you will be required to balance the requirements requested by our external customers and PM members against the guidelines that support the PMIS online tool. You will work in a fast paced Agile environment and provide assistance and guidance when required. You will be an advocate for our external customers and the PM members, and will act as the Product Owner liaison between our Developers and end-users.

  • Works collaboratively with PM members in an effort to maintain, evaluate, and improve the proprietary PMIS online tool.
  • Supports performance evaluation by assessing end-user needs and working with the Development team to identify and resolve problems.
  • Develops “storyboard” models that will be used to explain to the Development team the requirements needed to build the additional feature – function requested by the PM team.
  • Supports application design through collaborative ideation and design discussions with end users and prototype discussions with the Development team.
  • Acts as liaison between Verizon’s external customers and the PM team to develop new value-added programs and data solutions from within PMIS online tool data warehouse structure.
  • Tests designed applications - Analyzes and determines information needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, data flow and data output and reporting capabilities.
  • Assists in continual improvements of the PMIS online tool by offering collaborative feedback during retrospectives.
  • Maintains integrity of the PMIS online tool by setting and enforcing standards and controls in addition to troubleshooting problems.
  • Prepares end users for the daily use of the PMIS online tool by providing general use of the tool information and conducting training when required.
  • Organizes information by studying, analyzing, interpreting, and classifying data that ultimately achieves the desired business outcome established by the end user.
  • Provides support to solve a wide range of complex issues/problems.
  • Receives some supervision and has some latitude on achieving objectives related to specific program task, project or initiative.
  • Supports Verizon Credo through adherence to company policies, processes and practices.

What we’re looking for...

You are analytical, a critical and creative thinker. You enjoy working with data and Development teams and understand the capabilities and functions of a database in relationship with project management. You have logic skills and have an understanding of information systems. A high attention to detail is a must, along with the ability to work with cross-functional teams that result in software development of automated online reporting that support large scale projects within a project management organization.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of work experience.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Experience in the design, maintenance, and administration of relational data.
  • One or more years of relevant project management work experience in a telecommunications implementation environment (data, voice, Internet).

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems.
  • Proven skills in tracking/managing project tasks and milestones, and provide clear, concise reporting status (verbal and written).
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office product suite, including PowerPoint, Excel & Word.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Enterprise client experience.
  • Financial business acumen experience.
  • Broad Telecom product experience.
