What you’ll be doing...

The Artificial Intelligence & Data (AI&D) organization focuses on delivering the power of AI and data to drive our marketplace leadership through innovative solutions that create value for our customers, shareholders, V-teamers and society, responsibly.

We are looking for a Senior Manager, AI and Data Platform to join our growing team. You will work with the Data team to identify and qualify Google Cloud Platform (GCP) opportunities. You will lead cloud solutioning and scoping to generate estimates and approaches for proposals.

The primary accountabilities associated with this position include:

  • Conducting full technical discovery, identifying pain points, business and technical requirements, "as is" and "to be" scenarios.
  • Assessing the full technology stack of services required including PaaS (Platform as-a-service), IaaS (Infrastructure as-a-service), SaaS (software as-a-service), operations, management and automation.
  • Leading the discussions and early analysis of the cloud concepts as it relates to Verizon's Journey to -Cloud methodology so that clear use cases are developed and prioritized as well as transitioning these concepts from ideas to proof-of-concepts with the full support of the appropriate teams.
  • Comparing solution alternatives across both technical and business parameters which support the define cost and service requirements.
  • Interacting with network users, business and IT teams, empathizing with their pain points, analyzing their Platform needs, and driving end-to-end solutioning of data-driven solutions.
  • Working closely with end-users, data engineering teams, solution architects, and Cloud teams to design best-in-class solutions and drive joint priorities.
  • Establishing contemporary, best-in-class cloud management practices in line with the architectural Northstar defined by the organization.
  • Mentoring junior team members on technical and functional skills.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant experience
  • Experience in Datalake/data-warehousing technologies.
  • Knowledge of Cloudera (Hadoop/Spark eco-system – Hive, Oozie and HDFS), Kubernetes Platform and Kafka

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A Master’s degree.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform, primary AI/ML tools such as Datarobot, Domino, BigQuery, Data Proc. Informatica, Nifi, and SQL.
  • Experience in data security and governance - Track record of leading complex, large scale network data projects and data products.
  • Strong leadership skills for driving and collaborating cross functional groups.
  • Strong focus on customer success and the ability to inspire teams to go above and beyond.
  • The ability to thrive in ambiguity and define the path forward.
