The Executive Director, Global Product Development and Supply (GPS) Business Development and In-licensing candidate will report to the VP, Portfolio Strategy & Integration, and will possess strong business acumen with technical experience in pharmaceutical product development and manufacturing. The candidate will lead a team of professionals responsible for leading GPS contributions to business development opportunities, including in-licensing, out-licensing, Merger & Acquisition, and strategic partnerships across all therapeutic areas and modalities at Bristol Myers Squibb. The candidate and their team will collaborate with technical functions and other GPS business units to perform due diligence and valuation, and advance related transactions processes. The candidate must have strong interpersonal and communication skills and be capable of working with multiple internal stakeholders to facilitate highly visible and time-sensitive business development projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a high performing team and assign and coach GPS leads to coordinate and drive due diligence efforts, lead CMC engagement with alliance partners for research collaborations, lead cost of goods and resource estimates to support financial valuation of opportunities, support transaction negotiations and contracting for GPS-related terms, and facilitate a smooth transition of external programs into the GPS portfolio.

  • Coach team leads to summarize and present due diligence findings and contract positions to GPS senior leaders, including contingency plans to mitigate identified risks and secure approvals.

  • Represent GPS on certain time critical and sensitive due diligence efforts.

  • Represent GPS on the Business Development Operations Committees, ensuring alignment of GPS deliverables with overall project milestones and priorities, and effectively communicate GPS technical and business risks associated business development plans.

  • Champion communication with key partners and stakeholders within and outside of GPS on business development portfolio and project priorities.

  • Keep senior GPS leaders informed and prepared for business development governance where decisions and endorsements are requested for business development project milestones.

  • Attract, develop, and retain diverse talent.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum BS/BA in Technical Field (Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, related life sciences or engineering); advanced technical degree, MBA, and/or equivalent experiences preferred.

  • 15+ years of CMC experience in a complex global environment with a track record of
    managing relationships internally and externally.

  • Demonstrated managerial and leadership skills in leading within a matrix environment, and
    the ability to work across various functional organizational interfaces.

  • Demonstrated ability to build a team and develop a high-performance organization in a matrix management environment.
