Position Summary:

The Director, Talent Development - Logistics , will drive thought and practice leadership that strengthens organization performance through a systemic approach to Business Unit and individual associate development throughout Penske Logistics. This role will be responsible for leading a customized development strategies that meet the needs of 4 specific lines of business and corporate for Penske Logistics.

This role will lead an engaged team of 6 high performing Talent and Organization development professionals, work collaboratively with the broader Talent Development Team, and effectively leverage the Leadership Development COE.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and delivery of customized leading edge business unit specific development programs and experiences designed to support growth, and individual and organization performance
  • Lead and execute the overall Penske Logistics Talent Development Strategy in alignment with the enterprise Talent and Organization development strategy and practices
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and partner for leaders and key stakeholders across the logistics businesses. Identify short and long term development needs and design high impact development programs, resources and experiences that will strengthen future organization performance.
  • Lead the development and delivery of a comprehensive portfolio of development programs and experiences from Onboarding to Professional Development
  • Lead and develop a team of leading-edge Talent and Organization Development professionals. Foster a climate of positively engaged performance
  • In alignment with the principles of Talent Development Work collaboratively across the enterprise T&OD community to ensure consistency and visibility to other Initiatives that may serve your client groups.
  • Actively participate in external expert academic and practitioner forums that ensure Penske benefits from the most innovative and impactful thought leadership in the behavioral sciences.
  • Other projects as assigned.

The Director, Talent Development will report to the Sr Director, Talent & Organization Development.

Penske’s corporate offices are located in Reading, PA, 75 miles northwest of Philadelphia. Most of our executive leadership team are based out of the office or frequent the office for meetings. Candidates who are within a commutable distance are highly preferred. All candidates must be able to establish and maintain a presence at the corporate campus in order to advance initiatives with senior leaders and lead positive relations with team members.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in related area of study is required (i.e., OD, HR, I/O Psychology, ID preferred)
  • At least 10 years of experience required in the following areas:
  • Business Unit Specific development program design and delivery.
  • Organization assessment and intervention design and implementation
  • Process redesign and optimization
  • Large group facilitation
  • Must have executive presence and confidence to engage with C-Suite level personnel to develop strong, collaborative, working relationships. Be as relatable with entry level workers as with C-suite executives.
  • Must have proven experience as an engaging organizational leader, leading effectively through influence in a matrixed organization, effectively prioritizing objectives, driving strategic plans, measuring effectiveness, and possess a high degree of business acumen
  • Experience /ICF certification in coaching, psychological assessment interpretation and consultation
  • Strong foundational knowledge in areas of Leadership, Adult Development, Organization Development, Organizational Psychology, Consulting skills, HR Practices, Talent Management and Change Management.
  • A reflective, humble, and proactive leader who is comfortable working with multiple levels of human systems (Intrapersonal, Interpersonal, Group, Function, Organization, Trans-Organization)
  • Strong curiosity, A love of learning and burning desire to make a difference to Penske, its associates, customers, and society.
  • Demonstrated performance in working both independently as well as collaboratively in the delivery of high stakes, high profile projects.
  • Both detail oriented and systems thinker who connects dots that are not always obvious.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-sensitive environment
  • Flexibility to travel approximately 15% of the time
  • Excellent Communication skills- Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to apply and integrate learning to self and be a positive role model for Talent & Organization Development
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
  • Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required
